Evan brings your drink a moment later, he pauses as if considering to sit in the chair next to you. Once you notice his hesitance to leaving, you speak up asking "would you like to sit down?" His face went from longing to confused then flustered the second you finished speaking. "Oh I wouldn't want to disturb you, just call me over if you need something" he eventually replies. Then rushes back behind the counter before you could say anything more.
You shrug if off, sipping the perfectly made beverage in your hands. After awhile you zone out, not thinking about anything in particular while staring out the window/fliers on the wall.
Once you were close to finishing your drink you take a long look at your surroundings. Evan was busy wiping down tables and sweeping the floor. A normal looking couple walks into the store, with the classic ding of the bell about the door. Evan glances up then looks back down, he finishes what he was doing the returns their gaze with a smile.
"Hows it going Evan?" asks the taller female. She was wearing a long trench coat, with black jeans and brown boots. The top of the grey coat was tied so you couldn't see the rest of her outfit. She tosses her auburn wavy hair while walking towards him.
The girl next to her clings onto the others arm. Shes shorter then the woman with the auburn hair, she had short and messy black hair, with bangs that fell just below her eyebrows. She wore a light grey over sized sweater, black shorts and sneakers. She looks like she was dragged out of bed, but still stylish and put together.
"Hey girls, you want the usual today?" Evan replies obviously knowing them. He places down the rag and goes behind the counter while they go to the register. "Yes please" says the soft spoken shorter girl. "I want to try something new, unlike her" the taller woman teases the shorter one. "Peppermint mocha please" she then says back to Evan.
"Got it, go sit down and I'll bring in to you" Evan replies after grabbing the money and turning to make the drinks. "Actually we'll take it to go today,we're gonna go to the park and then dinner with Liz's parents" says the taller lady.
"Oh that sounds fun" Evan says handing the smaller woman her drink then returning to the machines. "Well it'll be an ordeal, to say the least" 'Liz' replies."Whys that?" Evan asks concerned and placing the other drink in the taller girls hands. "Cause of Aya, and us" Liz says more quietly. "Unsupported?" Evan asks placing both his hands on the counter and leaning on them.
The taller one, supposedly Aya, smiles widely and replies anyway "I'm charming, oh so I've heard. My family supports our happiness and hers will have to deal with it".
You didn't mean to listen to their conversation, but the room was silent anyway so it was hard not to. You listened to them, but didn't focus or look at them to about coming off as rude. Deciding not to eaves drop you finish your drink and head towards the door. Evan notices and waves at you before you leave. You smile and nod in his direction, getting a big breath of fresh air once outside.
Leaning on the building you reach into your pocket for your phone, which wasn't there. You sigh and walk to the hotel.
Before you were even close to opening the door you could see Ryan talking to the receptionist. As you reluctantly open the door you catch the last of their conversation.
"-It was dumb I know" Ry says stopping himself once he sees you.
"Hi" you say bleakly. he says a short "thanks" to the clearly bored receptionist. "'Hi' you, where have you been?!" He says loudly walking up to you. "Uh, here? I wasn't sure if I wanted to see you today" you reply truthfully "plus this is where I'm staying you know".
His face automatically sinks when you spoke. You felt bad"I'm sorry you upset me?" you question him, unsure of what to say to his reaction. He shakes his hands in front of him "don't apologize, why don't we go somewhere to talk?" he suggests. You groan a little while rubbing your neck "I guess". "Okay good, why don't you get dressed and I'll see you down here" he says leaning against the glass window behind him.
Your eyes fall to the sweat pants and sneakers You're sporting, "I'm dressed,  what does this not suit your fancy?" you snap back. "Oh-no I just thought they were..." he trails off staring at your outfit. "Never mind, lets go" he holds the door open for you.
Normally his dumb moments would crack you up, but not today. regret takes place in your stomach mixing with anxiousness and the thousands of questions. You slowly follow behind Ryan as you two walk to his house. He turns his so he can see you "you're not going to walk next to me?" while he spoke you lift your head from looking down. Shrugging as a reply you walk faster, in time with his steps.
Realizing the route you two were walking, you immediately think about you two talking in his bedroom, you don't want that. But by the time you could speak up he was already holding the front door open. You reluctantly step in but the house feels different. Your gut was telling you this was a bad idea. "Ry I'm not sure I want to discuss this here" you say clutching your stomach at the top of the stairs.
He turns you around and sees your face them says "of course, lets just go to the park then". He then guides you out of the house arm over your shoulders.
His arm doesn't leave your shoulder a block later, you try to relax but end up tensing even more. As if getting the hint he quickly removes his hand and you step further away "sorry" he mumbles. "It's fine" you mumble as a response.
You two walk in silence until reaching the familiar park bench. Unlike when you first met, Ryan sat a safe distance away from you. There was slight wind blowing the leaves on the trees. There were no ducks in sight.
He doesn't end up saying a word for a long while, growing impatient you clear your throat and speak up "you wanted to talk yeah? I'm listening".
"I know I know, I just don't know where to start" he says honestly. You sigh and elan back looking at the sky. "Why not with my question you never answered?" you say, sneaking a glance at him. He looked confused for a moment, then realized what you meant. Your leg began to bounce anxiously. After another pause you stand up and begin to pase in front of him. "Should I just go home?" you say crossing your arms while keeping your head down. His lack of answers was annoying you down to the bone.
Before you could pace past him another time he shoots up from the bench and grabs your wrist in one swift movement. His suddenness causes you to stop pacing and your eyes meet. "I don't want to lose you" he says, your gaze unable to break from his. You relax your arms and shoulders, face softening "then answer my questions". His words were pleasant to hear but you need to be shot down formally, or to be given a ray of hope in order to fully forgive him.
He hesitates and you, once again, speak for him "listen, I already know what you're gonna say Cry. I just think you need to tell me what you're feeling more often so I know what you're thinking." His grip on your wrist slips and you sit back down. He stands in front of you with an unreadable expression. "Just sit and let's forget about it" you sigh.
Of course you're still hurt, but you're used to hurting for the sake of others. He sits down next to you, close enough for your legs to touch. He hugs you "I don't deserve you in my life (Y/N), you're too kind. But you have to put yourself first sometimes too" he says as if reading your mind. You bend your arms to hug home back, not wanting to say 'that's when I screw everything up'.
