The next morning, I woke up to heavy rains. The curtains blew gently against the window, releasing the petrichor into my bedroom.I smiled as I inhaled the scent. I loved rainy weather.

I climbed out of my tall bed. The cool air raised goosebumps on my bare arms. I grabbed my gown and walked across the wooden floors toward the kitchen.

My mother was feeding my baby sister, Lina.

Lina was only 1 years old. My father died in a car accident before she was born. It was a hard time for all three of us. I was 12 and Lily was 16. My mother was 37.

Aromas of bacon and toast filled my nostrils as I approached the kitchen.

"Good morning, Mother." I said.

I was always the one who spoke properly. No nicknames. No slang.

"Morning, Mal! How did you sleep last night?" she asked sweetly.

"I had an awful dream. Aunt Kayla was there, and so were you! These men robbed us and they had guns! It was absolutely terrifying!"

"Darling, that sounds terrible! Are you okay?"

"I suppose I'm alright. It just left me quite shook."

She nodded. "It's quite a coincidence because Aunt Kayla is coming over tonight!"

Aunt Kayla was my mother's sister. She helped my mother financially when my father passed. They were very close.

Lily walked into the kitchen already dressed in her black clothing. She used to be colourful, but changed after Father's death.

"And where are you going so early on a Saturday morning?" my mother laughed.

"Barn." Lily said.

"A barn? What on earth are you doing there?" I questioned.

"Stuff with my friends!" she cried, sighing and dishing up breakfast.

Lily wasn't always so secretive. Ever since my father passed, she acted weirder.

Lily left after breakfast, leaving Mother, Lina and me to spend the day preparing supper for Aunt Kayla.

By six ó clock, Aunt Kayla was at the door with a bunch of lilies in her petite hands. She was wearing a black pair of jeans with black ankle boots. Her shirt was covered with her deep purple coat.

"Malika, honey!" she cried, hugging me tightly. Her light brown hair blew in the storm winds. Aunt Kayla was so beautiful.

"I missed you so much!" I hugged back.

I took the lilies from her while she hugged my mother to put them in a vase. Aunt Kayla always brought lilies. They were Mother's favourite flowers. That's how Lily got her name.

After supper, Mother and I sat at the table while Aunt Kayla put the leftover food in the fridge. Lina was asleep. I was speaking to Mother when I saw it.

The fear; the panic; the terror; it all came rushing back when I saw the man running towards us from the sliding door.

I snapped out of it.

I will not let this happen again!

I ran for the garage door and slammed it shut, locking it before the man could reach there. Like lightning, I reached for the phone and dialed 911. I ran around the house locking any possible ways in until the police eventually got here.

Mother and Aunt Kayla were still confused as to what had happed while the police drove the thugs away.

"Malika. How did you know that would happen?" Aunt Kayla asked, slightly dazed. She was probably in shock.

"I-"

"You dreamt it." Mother smiled.

Lily got home late; around 9 ó clock. Mother would usually lecture her, but after the "attempted robbery" she was too excited to tell Lily what happened.

"Wait, so Mal dreamt all of tonight's events and managed to change how it ended?" Lily asked.

"Pretty much!" laughed Aunt Kayla.

Lily's frown quickly grew to a sinister grin.

"That is... incredible, Malika!" Lily purred. Her voice was soft but slightly creepy. "It's rather late. I think we should all get some sleep..."
