Chapter 1: The New Girl

My name is Malia Hale and I'm the new girl at Mystical Fall's. I moved here after the 'Incident'. I'm  staying with my far cousin Tyler Lockwood.  Another reason why I moved was to escape the mysteries and secrets from Beacon Hills. You know, all the hunters, my dad, and my mum. For once in my life, I wanted to be a normal teenage girl. 

While grabbing my backpack, Tyler knocked on my door. 

"Come in," I yelled while stressing to find my biology book.

Tyler walked in and looked at me strangely. He turned his head to the side and spotted the book. 

"Hey Mal, practice is early today so need to go soon also it's under the chest of draws."

He moves his hand and points to the oak wood draws.

I smile at him and grab the book I was searching furiously for. 

"Thanks."

Carol Lockwood,  Tyler's mother, was the mayor of Mystic falls however... lets just say she's in peace now. Yes, she's dead. Klaus killed her due to a massive fail in his hybrid sire bond. I didn't know her that well. Same with Tyler. I only ever visited one time and I remember it very faintly.   

We both arrive at school and Ty runs off to practice. Since we were there early I decide to go look around. First off, I try to find my locker. The good thing about being the 'new girl' is that you never have to worry about being late to class. You'll always have an excuse but it'll run out in a week or so.  Walking through the white painted walls, I saw sight of someone. His hair was the color of smooth milk chocolate and his eyes were a misty blue color. They reminded me of the sea.  He was tall and he could do that broody stare that only some people look good doing and in this case, he did look good. 

He sees me approach my locker and he just stares. I put in my pin code which i know because Ty gave it to me. Turning my head slowly to him, he starts waving. I smile back trying not to be rude and walk away.  There was something about his wave. Odd and un-peculiar.  

It's later in the day and i'm in lesson four. Great, I hate maths. Sitting next to me, a girl with short brown hair and she looked very feisty. I think we'd get on very well. She notices that I'm staring at her and she raises her eyebrows.  

"Um can I help you?" the girl asks in a sassy tone of voice.

I stop staring and start thinking of an excuse.

"I got stuck on a question." I say disappointed that that was the best excuse I could do.

She gave me an unconcerned nod and explains the answer to me. Luckily we were sat at the back of the class so the teacher couldn't really hear us. 

"I haven't seen you around before? You new?" She questioned. 

I point over to Tyler while explaining to her that I was a distant relative and I was staying with him.

"Oh, I'm Bonnie." kindly pointing out that she was wondering what my name was.

"Malia Hale" 

Class comes to an end. Walking to my locker, I see that boy again. The 'Mysterious' one. He's talking to Tyler. 

They both turn around and while giving them both a concerned look, Ty starts walking over to me. I shut my locker and wait for him to speak. 

"Malia, don't trust him." He warns me.

"Look, I know I'm the 'new girl' but remember I fought an ancient werewolf and I won. Don't underestimate me." I say while walking away. My eyes started turning blue and loads of people were staring. 

I had no idea where I was going, I just wanted that to seem bitchy. Hopefully the mystery man won't be bothering me anymore. In the background I could hear someone say "She's feisty."
