Chapter Five

Phoebe kept doing Clawdeen's hair. She didn't know what else to do, she had been stuck in a hospital bed for two hours. Her mother and the doctor had been furiously arguing outside her door, keeping Phoebe awake when all she really wanted to do was sleep. She wanted to go to school, even though her head hurt, but her parents said no. Her daddy had even come home from work to see her. He brought her goldfish and carrot sticks to eat, instead of the yucky hospital food. Her daddy had also snuck her a reeses, which she hid under her pillow, giggling the entire time.

The doctor had put little tiny stitches in her head, so she could keep her head together, he'd said. It hurt Phoebe's arm a bit when she'd gotten a shot, but after that her head was all fuzzy and nothing hurt anymore. When she got back, she finally noticed that Phoebe had a Clawdeen doll, but she didn't think much of it. Phoebe's mother only thought that a friend or family member had given her the doll, and Phoebe's one track six year old mind had forgotten to tell her, and didn't mention it.

If she had, she might have saved her. Maybe
