{Estee's POV}
Growing up I have always been well off and happy with my life. It wasn't until my brother left for law school that it all started to take a turn. My brother saw things that we'd never been exposed to before and he found himself a changed man as he walked away from the family to join his new friends in the fight against the crown. Our grandfather was disgusted by my brother's choice and turned his nose up at him. In his mind my brother was no longer part of our family, all he was was a disgrace that we needed to try and escape. For the past two years I've been stuck in this house alone, wishing to see my brother and be able to talk to him. All I wanted was to know that he well.
"Estee!" I snapped my head up from my book to see my grandfather watching me through narrowed eyes. He was growing old and frail but you couldn't tell that by his attitude, he still had the bark and bite of a young man.
"Yes?" I asked in a quite voice.
"I asked if you could go out to town and pick up some bread." He hissed as he handed me some money. "Be back before dark and don't wander."
"I won't," I assured him as I pulled walked into the hall and watched myself in the mirror as I pulled my long brown hair up into a bun before heading out onto the street.
As I headed closer to the square I could hear people yelling and saw a large crowd that was gathered around three young men who were speaking as they, and some others, handed out papers to the people in the crowd. My jaw nearly dropped when I spotted one of the men's familiar face. Standing there yelling was my older brother Marius. I couldn't help but go closer but I didn't pay attention to their words, I just kept my eyes on Marius.
His short brown hair was messy but in a way that it still looked nice while his eyes had a gleam in them that I'd never seen before. In a way it scared me but at the same time I couldn't help but smile. He seemed so happy up there, happier than I'd ever seen him. Before I knew it his eyes had landed on me and widened as my smile widened. He didn't miss a beat though as he continued to speak until the rally was over and he stepped down from the platform with the other men while the crowd dispersed.
"What are you doing here?" He pulled me into a hug and I locked my arms around his neck. It felt nice to see my brother.
"I was going to get bread when I saw you," I informed him. "It's been too long!"
"Who do we have here Marius?" One of the men who he'd talked with walked over with a wide smile. He was a little shorter than Marius and had short black curls and dimples.
"Estee this is my friend Courfeyrac, Courfeyrac this is my little sister Estee." Marius introduced me to his friend.
"I wasn't aware that Marius had a sister!" Courfeyrac wrapped his arms around my waist and twirled me as if we were best friends, I couldn't help but let a giggle escape me as a few other people joined us and I was set back on my feet.
"Estee this is Gavroche, Joly, Jehan, and Enjolras." He introduced me to the others around us. I looked over them and only Gavroche and Enjoras really stood out to me. Gavroche was a little boy who couldn't be older than twelve with a large smile and had a gap between his two front teeth. Then there was Enjolras who was older, maybe older than Marius. He had dark blonde curls and bright blue eyes that seemed to be deep in thought.
"It's nice to meet my brother's friends." I smiled at all of them.
"We'll leave you to this little reunion," Joly gave a small smile before he and the others left Marius and I be on the quickly emptying corner.
"I take it Grandfather doesn't know you're here?" Marius finally spoke up as we walked down the street.
"I'm simply out getting bread." I acted innocent.
