Now that you've cooled off from that plot twist, let's begin.
Mariah up there
Alexander's POV
"I'm sorry. What did you just say?" I said, damn near choking on my lemonade. Hell, I damn near down his drink too. "She's our sister Alex. That's part of the reason why I went away." Jordan said. "Now that we're on the subject, why did you leave?" I asked. I needed to know why exactly did he leave. "The thing is, I would spend time on the weekends at grandmas and chill with the family. Sometimes I didn't come home for a few days, you knew that much." he said. He's right, Jordan would always stay around family members house and sometimes wouldn't come back until the next day or two. It was never really a with me and my dad as we knew what kind of person Jordan was. My mom on the other hand figured that Jordan was selling drugs and somehow convinced my dad that we should move away from the family. I nodded my head letting him know that I was following.
"Well one day, Grams sat me down and told me that there was someone that she wanted me to meet. I thought she was trying to play match maker and set me up on a date so I eagerly agreed. Turns out that she was brought Mariah in and told me that this was my older sister. Trust me bro, my reaction was the same as yours when she said it. Add to the fact that I was getting ready to start my first year of college too, It was a lot to process at the time so I decided to tell mom that I wanted to spend the summer with grams and them. Of course she said no but I snuck out anyway. It wasn't supposed to be for 6 years though, more like those three months, so I could get to know Mariah a bit more. When I was thinking of coming back home, word had gotten around to the family that y'all had moved even further away and that the numbers were changed as well, basically leaving me stuck down there." he said as I continued to listen.
"I tried to find you Alex, I really did" he sadly as Mariah agreed with him. "Plus it's not like you had a cell or any form of social media, which made it even harder for me to find you. I can't believe mom would up and abandon me like that. True I shouldn't have snuck out but still." he said choking up. I never knew that's happened. All this time I just assumed that he just up and left us just because. Come to think of it, my mom never really really cared that much when we told her. Hell, my dad didn't have a better reaction either. All he said was "It's just you now kid" and about a month later, the abuse started. "It's OK Jordan, I guess I can't be too mad at you after hearing your side of the story." I said smiling. I took a deep breath. "So you're our older sister huh? You're mad pretty! How come they never mentioned you" I said, still in disbelief and shock.
"I prefer to discuss this in a more a private setting if you don't mind. Can we eat first and I'll tell you more about me when we leave here. Sounds like a deal?" she smiled at me. "Sure no problem." I agreed as me and Jordan's food came while she ordered hers. After about a half hour of us just sitting there making small talk and jokes, we paid for our stuff and left. To be honest Jordan wanted to pay for everything but we declined. That bill was about 75 dollars altogether! I got in the car with Jordan and Mariah got in her car which was ironically parked right next to us. Baby girl was pushed and 2014 Altima, lordt I need one of them to give me a plug. We drove to the park that me and Jordan was just at which also happens to be th place we always come when we need to clear our head.
We sat on Mariah's blanket on a nearby hill. "Mom never wanted me." Mariah started. "Huh?" I said confused. "Let me start from the top. When she first got pregnant with me, mom was ecstatic. I was her first child with dad. All is good right? That was until they found out I was a girl. Turns out they really wanted a boy and had bought a lot of boy things. Add to the fact that dad said he wasn't raising a no girls, it put mom in a tough spot. Although it really wasn't that tough because a mother should always put their child before any man. Well mom decided that she was gonna have an abortion and then try again. However grams stopped her and told her that she would raise me and say I was a distant cousin. She told me all about the two of you and I couldn't wait to meet both of my brothers. I would get so excited to see both of you even though I had to lie about who I was to you." she said tearing up.
"It killed me that I couldn't just out right say "Hey little brother's!" to both of you. Your mother even went as far as threatening me say that if I ever tried to reveal my true identity to either one of you, she would kill me before I would even get a word out." she said crying. Hearing that from her didn't surprise me since now I now what my parents are capable of, but still I killed me to know that this happened to her. I gave her a hug as she continued on with her story. "When she left Jordan stranded down there, grams thought it would be a good opportunity for us to finally meet and get to know each other. Trust me, both of you had the same reaction." she said laughing. "We spent all of these years getting to know each other and he would often mention how much I would love you." she said smiling at me. Jordan joined in on the hug "I always thought about you Alex. Even when you didn't think I was." he said ruffling my hair.
"We decided that we would find you by any means necessary and asked grams for help. She said she knew Sage's grandmother and would ask her if she seen you around." My grandmother and Sage's grandmother know each other? Wow. "Within a few days, she got back to us saying what school you went to and where you worked just in case you weren't in school. So me and Jordan decided that we were coming back for you. We're here now Alex." she finished hugging me even tighter. At this point, I was a damn mess. Crying mad hard yet feeling so safe now that they were here. "Oh and grams would like to see you soon one day." she said smiling. "For sure! I would love to meet her too!" I said smiling. "Well how's it been?" she said smiling. My smile dropped, I'm guessing Jordan didn't tell her.
"Terrible." I responded as she looked at me confused. Jordan looked at me with guilt ridden all over his face. "Well for the last 6 years, I have been beaten, raped and starved by those people we call parents. Luckily I got a job to hep feed myself since they weren't going to. If I bought anything, I left it with Sage and Aurora along with my wallet because if I didn't, I would be broke and in debt by now. Sage gave me her old phone, and I just now got around to making an Instagram. " I said trying to lighten the mood. "They did what?!" Mariah said pissed. I mean vein throbbing out the side of her neck pissed. "I'm gonna kill them! What type of people does that to their own child?! They are going to die no questions about that." she said."Ry chill. Jordan already handled it, hence why his knuckles look like that. Besides, you do that and you're going to jail for murder. Then what?" I said trying to reason with her.
"Ugh I guess your right." she said calming down. "However, you're staying with us tonight and if I do see them, I'm fucking shit up!" she said making me laugh. Yup, I definitely love her. It's said what my parents have done to the three of us but I'm glad to have my siblings together. "Hold up wait, did you say live with y'all? Y'all stay here?" I asked "Yeah we got a house around the corner from Sage. We had to make sure we had everything together before we came back here." Jordan said. "I'm just happy that you guys are back. I feel complete now." I said crying again. "We're glad to be back baby bro. Trust me, we feel complete too." Mariah said as we all hugged.
My older siblings are here. I feel like I can take on the world now. Can't wait to introduce them to Sage and Aurora.
