"Why didn't you help us break up the fight?" Aurora asked me. "Uh because it wasn't my fight and I was hungry. They want to kill each other, be my guest." I said as we walked toward my locker. "Why are you being cold like that? Hell neither Alaska or the arctic circle can't even come close to you right now." Sage said making me laugh. "I'm not being cold. I'm just saying that's all." I said as I finally got my locker opened and put my books in it before closing it again. "You ready for work?" I asked Sage as we continued to walk to the door. "I just.......nevermind. Yeah let's go." she said as we continued. "Y'all didn't hear the shit he said to me before hand. Like he really sat there and accused me being a homie hopper and playing him. He had me fucked up. Hell no I wasn't gonna stop him. My food wasn't gonna eat itself." I said ending the conversation.
"Shit I didn't know he said that. Well shit I don't blame you." Sage said as we walked to her car. "I don't blame you for not stopping him then. Let's get to work then." she said as she opened the door. I hugged Aurora "I'll text you later. Be safe." I said as she nodded and punched Sage for not hugging her. "Don't be ignorant bitch." she said as I laughed. "My bad A. See you tomorrow. Be safe." she said hugging her through the window before pulling off. "That wasn't funny nigga." she said gritting at me when we came to a red light. "Sorry. My bad." I said as she slammed her foot on the gas, making me hit my head on the headrest. "Now we're even." she said laughing. "Bitch." I mumbled. "We're heeeerrrreeee. Imma ask Ms. S if I can get one of those cheesecakes to go." she sung. "I needs one of those pineapple shortcakes. Everybody say those things are little bites of heaven." I said as we got out the car and headed in the building.
"Seems a little busy today." I said as we walked to the back and got ready for our shift. "You know it always gets like this when we start. I swear they be waiting for us to come in or something." Sage said making me laugh. "You would be right. Most of them specifically say that they will come in when you two are here. They love y'all." Ms. Sanchez said low key scaring me. "Welp let's not keep them waiting then. Before we go, Ms.S, me and Sage was wondering if we could take a cake home when we're done." I asked her. "Depends on how the night goes but y'all got it so yeah. Now get to work soldiers." she said making us laugh. "Hi welcome to Illusions Bakery, what can I do for you?" I said to the customer. "My two favorite people are back. Can I get the usual." he said. "One strawberry shortcake with extra strawberries and one half sheet of apple upside down cake. Got ya." I said as he nodded his head. "Sage you got that?" I asked looking back at her.
"On it." she said as she went straight to woke. "36.47 is your total." I said as he handed me $40. "You can keep the change. You guys are awesome!" he said as I gave him his receipt. "Thank you. We try. have a nice day." I smiled and began taking the next order. "Can I get the red berry trifle and a dozen of those strawberry - lemon parfaits?" they said as I was writing down the order. "Alex?" the person said as I looked up. My face instantly went blank. "Hi sir. Nice to meet you. Will that be all?" I said to David. "I didn't know you worked here. My mom is always hyping up the bake goods that come from here, so she sent me here to pick her up some." he said smiling as if my ass was gonna jump for joy. "Great. Will that be all sir?" I said as my expression never changed. "Um yeah. Well can I get slice of that apple pie over there? That's all." he sad as his smile faded.
