Meet Jasmine, a thirteen year old girl abandoned by her own parents and left to fight for her life on the streets. Everyday, the only sun she sees is inky black. The good news? Her Ipod. The only thing her parents gave her. And Fight Song by Rachel...
I was woken up by someone shaking me me repeatedly.
"Jasmine wake up it's 7 am" a voice said. I opened my eyes and saw Nora siting at the end of the bed.
"Can I get 5 more mintues" I asked in a raspy morning voice.
"No you can't . Everyone else is already awake and we leave at 10" Nora said while giggling.
"Ok, now get out so I can get ready " I said sternly.
"Whatever grumpy head, but if you're not out of the room in 15 minutes I'm pouting coffee on you!" She said getting up. After Nora left I picked out some high wasted shorts along with a shirt that stops right before my before my bellybutton. I take the clothes into the bathroom and taken care of my hygiene. When I'm done I get dressed and walk out of the guest room to see everyone sitting down at the table.
"Good morning honey" Rachel said noticing me.
"Good morning to you too mom!" I said
"I'm guessing you didn't want coffee to be poured on you?" Nora asked, laughing. I tried to give her a stern expression but it ended up failing miserably, making me laugh with her.
"Are you packed, Jazz?" Mom asked. I nod. She motioned for me to sit down. As soon as I did, she handed me a bowl of oatmeal. As I eat, Aunt Mel, Mom and Matt start talking quietly.
"Mel! You're a genius!" Mom yells. I look up, my interest peaked. For a second, mom had a tint of redness on her cheek. Her hands fly over her mouth and Aunt Mel starts laughing.
"Oh Rachel, as clumsy as always!" I chuckle at Aunt Mel's remark. I wash my bowl and dry it before placing it in the box that would be shipped to be Boston. The six of us put on our jackets, and leave for the last time, lugging suitcases behind us. We hop into two taxi with Mom, Nora and I in one and Matt, Steph and Aunt Mel in the other. At the airport, Matt took transferred out baggage from the taxis on to the carts which we took to the check in counter. After checking in, mom hands us our tickets and we head over to our assigned gate. It turns out our flight had been delayed for about an hour, which gave us time to pull a few pranks on mom, including one where we pretend her purse was stolen after she told us to watch it for her while she went to use the restroom. Her reactions are priceless! As mom laughs with us after discovering it was only a joke, an announcement comes.
"United Airlines Flight 1104 is now ready to begin pre-boarding from Gate A4. Once again, United Airlines Flight 1104 is commencing pre-boarding for those with children or disabilities. Thank You."
"Ready to go, honey?" I gulp and nod nervously. This is it, my first time on an airplane. Mom soothingly takes my hand we, along with the others, wait in line to enter the aircraft. After getting our tickets and passports checked, we slowly walk down the long hallway and into the aircraft. To my surprise, its not as bad as I imagined it to be. I'm seated with mom in aisle 6, Nora and Mel in aisle 7, and Steph and Matt in aisle 8.
Rachel's POV
I'm hope Jazz will get used to flying because we're going to be travelling a lot. I take a glance at her and its obvious she's very nervous. Just then, a flight attendant comes on the intercom.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to welcome you aboard this beautiful Boeing 737-800.

Today's flight is scheduled for a flight time of 2 hours and 20 minutes. The doors are closed and once we finish our last safety checks, we should be on our merry way! In the meantime, we will starting our safety drill shortly. Thank you for choosing United Airlines and sorry about the delay." I tap Jazz's shoulders and point in the direction of flight attendant with a life vest in her hands. The same flight attendant from earlier speaks over the intercom to begin the safety drill. I crack a smile, noticing Jazz completely engrossed in the safety demonstration. In the case of an emergency, I know who I'm gonna ask.
