"Damn it move faster!" Richard shouted as he paced back and forth trying to find another exit.

The smoke was getting worse filling up the basement. Cherry covered her nose with her arms but failed to block out the smoke. She ran around looking but she found nothing. She couldn't remember much about the basement that she used to play in all the time as a little girl. She squinted her eyes trying to look through the smoke for a sign of light. However she found nothing. The smoke burned her eyes and it was becoming too much to handle.

She felt herself becoming dizzy. She kept coughing and coughing and walking around with her other sticking out to find something. It was no use. She suddenly collapsed to the floor losing energy. Her chest tighten and her throat itched badly.

"Cherry! Cherry are you ok?!" Richard cried out as he ran towards her to the ground. She could feel herself slowly slipping away.

Richard lifted her head and rest it on his legs as he checked her neck for a pulse. She slowly raised her arm giving him a sign that she wasn't dead yet.

"Come on Cherry. Don't give up," Richard pleaded as his voice cracked. "Don't give up on me or we'll never make it out of here. We still have a little hope."

She coughed. "Richard I'm giving up. This is what I've always wanted to be honest. Now I'll be at peace. I'm afraid that I'll always suffer if I am walking on this earth."

"No Cherry! Don't you say that! Don't die on me."

"Richard...tell me something you've always wanted to tell me before I die."

"No!"

"Why?!"

"Because your not gonna die!"

"Please! I wanna know if I'm a good person," she said as she looked deep in his eyes. He suddenly couldn't refuse her. He started crying and this shocked her. She had never seen him cry.

"Ok Cherry. If I'm being honest...I think I still have feelings for you. Your the most incredible girl. Your so strong if I'm being honest. If I didn't date Ricky...you would've probably been mine. This is something I never told anyone but...," he paused to take a deep breath. "Besides loving Ricky, I..I think I love you too. I think I've always loved you. No one understood you like me. Don't get me wrong, I don't think we would ever work out because Ricky still has a place in my heart. But you have a place there too. I may have never shown it but when I thought you were dead, I was losing it. I started getting over protected with Ricky because I didn't want the same fate for her. Now that your back, I don't plan on losing you. So please, don't give up."

She closed her eyes. Memories from her childhood slowly started flowing back. She suddenly remembered the nights when her parents were arguing and she was home alone with her sister. She would go into the basement and play with her dolls. However her parents had built a little secret passage for if there was an emergency. It was somewhere behind a wall. She just had to remember the exact spot.

"Richard...find the spot where the wood sticks out of the wall," she said faintly. "Hurry."

"Now we're talking," Richard said.

He kissed her forehead and jumped up towards any spot on the wall. He moved around keeping his hands on the wall looking for a piece of wood that stood out. Suddenly he came across a piece of wood that was hanging from the wall.

"Jack pot!" He said with excitement.

As he started to pull, suddenly the door to the basement came flying. It had missed Cherry on the floor by a second as she rolled over to the left to keep out of its way. The smoke became worse and through a little light, he could see a fire. It was slowly making its way down the stairs.
