Stand Up

Everyone is always complaining.

My dress isn't pretty.

My hair looks bad.

These shoes don't fit.

This food is gross.

The house is too cold.

I always was one of those people,

But then it happened.

I was visiting family

And we went on a walk to where the homeless lived.

At that moment all I felt was

Selfishness.

Cruelty.

But mostly,

Sympathy.

All these people probably wanted

Was a roof over there heads

And food at there beck and call.

From that day forward I learned to be great full.

And from that day on each person on that lonely street has had a meal for thanksgiving.

Because I took I stand,

And me,

One person,

Saved a whole street of people.
