Morning

My head was pounding, my eyes were exhausted and puffy from crying, and I was shaking madly. Where the hell had Kip gone? Why so suddenly too? What happened?

The morning sunshine burned my neck as I once again continued my routine of slamming my first against the tree and screaming angrily until coming to the conclusion that doing that wouldn't help whatsoever, and I needed to take action. Quickly.

I gathered up my things and stuffed them into my bagpack, still trembling slightly at the fear of losing the only animal I trusted with my life. The only animal that cared for me and I cared for him.

My hands shook slightly as I untied the rope from my tree, sighing heavily as I realised I wouldn't be back here for a long time. I had a tiger to find, and it wasn't going to be easy.

So as I gripped onto the rope tightly, and shrugged on my bag, I slowly started to walk out of the Meadow, and to Caspars house.

What can I say? I didn't know what to do, where to go. I wasn't the smartest teenager alive. But Caspar was clever, he was educated properly and had a house and probably a kind family. He understood me and despite what he had done to Kip and I, he was our friend, and he had helped me before.

My mouth was unbearably dry and my eyes were drooping as I felt extremely drowsy, but I managed to stumble across the rusty gate and my feet clashed with the the concrete as I tore my bag over the railing. I sighed loudly to no one in particular before trekking my way through the woods.

Midday

The nut - brown forest was a leafy paradise, the scampering squirrels searching for food beneath the bristles of wispy moss, the seasoned smell wafting up from the nut - scattered floor and flaring my nostrils as I breathed in the fresh air around me, the crunchy leaves and drumming woodpeckers and screeching Jays making a natured orchestra as I somehow managed to walk through the woods, somewhat enjoying the earthy scent.

My feet stomped across the crispy, blanketed leafy ground, the echoes of scurrying hares drifting through the forest in the darkening day, Kip the only thing on my mind. I was beyond lost, I didn't have any sense of direction and I definitely had no clue where I was even going but I was hardly going to try find my way back and live my life in pure silence without a tiger to live with. I was determined to find a way to get Kip back, despite the conseqences. I wasn't exactly prepared to find out where he'd gone and how he'd gotten there, but I wasn't giving up, no way was I giving up. Nope.

It wasn't too hot, it wasn't scorching heat, but there was a warm air drifting around, better than ice and coldness I suppose. I wasn't sticky with sweat, but I was out of breath from running frantically, damn that cursed tiger. I didn't really clearly remember the exact route to Caspar's house, but I could only hope I was going the right way. I didn't want to think of what would happen if I wasn't.

My chest was tight with worry, and I was terrified of the thought of Kip being hurt, or even worse, dead. No. He wasn't allowed to be dead, not on my watch he wasn't. The scent of the crispy leaves and the muck of nature didn't brighten my mood either, which was a pity because it wasn't very often I'd trek into the forest, I would normally take the other pathway and end up on a small street town, one of the easiest places to scout for food because it wasn't big and popular, therefor people didn't stop to ask questions. It was never busy either, just a simple street with colourful, bright, very few buildings which were just basic stores or banks, things like that. It wasn't a busy town, but it was where I'd basically grown up, running in and out with the amounts of money I had, but it was only now I realised I hadn't a lot of money left.

"Shit." I muttered out loud to myself, counting up the fiver and loose change. "That's it? That's all I've got left? Damn it." In anger that literally all my money was gone and there was absolutely no way of me getting a job to get it back, I kicked a rock down the mossy, leafy floor of the woods. Distracting myself, my gaze stayed on this little, greyish, black rock until it came to a stop beneath a tree. I was about to turn and keep going before I looked up.

My breathing hitched.

Rows of beautifully layed out houses was the sight for my very eyes, the sight of gorgeous homes with bright front doors and flower beds and French windows and little outdoor lamps and matts under the doors and grassy gardens and happy families. Something I had always longed for.

"Remember Joe." I thought to myself. "Caspar's house had a bright blue door." So I searched for a big, bright house with a blue door that just seemed all that familiar, and then suddenly there it was. The house at the very end, with a blue door, and I'm pretty sure I'd seen those plant pots before?

Unable to stand and stare any longer, I cut through all the leaves and branches and bushes and stupid nettles and twigs and jumped over dirty logs until I came to a little hill, before rolling wonderfully down that too, getting my t-shirt stained with green from the seemingly freshly cut grass. I proceeded to race down the road then, ignoring the aching in my legs and the fact that I was very quickly running out of breath, I just needed to get to Caspar.

The second I reached his house I was at his front door like a rocket, before holding my hand a few inches way from his doorbell, admiring the paint of his door and glossiness of the inside of his house already (which could be seen through the long ass windows beside his door) and then I continued to place my finger on the doorbell, and then pressing it.

A middle aged woman answered the door, her brown hair was cut short and she had gentle eyes and a friendly smile. "Hello." She smiled, at me, hopefully not taking note that I looked like a train wreck. "How can I help you?"

Well shit. That wasn't Caspar.

"Are you -I - I mean, is this Caspar's house? Does he live -" I started, but the woman interrupted me, by screeching out a "CASPAR, SOMEONE IS AT THE DOOR FOR YOU!" Before grinning at me like she didn't just let out a massive hulk yell but whatever. She smiled at me and said a quick "have a lovely day" before leaving the door open and walking way, just as the man himself appeared behind it. "Joe!" he exclaimed in delight, before noticing my face. "W-what are you doing here? Are you alright?"

I shook my head bitterly, refusing to accept the fact that I'd managed to lose a fucking tiger for gods sake, but I looked up at him and met his eyes before taking a deep breath.

"Caspar, Kip's gone."
