Ed’s P.O.V

Sound check. 1,2,3. Vocal warm-ups, is my guitar even tuned right? I strummed a few chords, nervously, waiting for this all to be over, so I could go on stage. It’s a small venue tonight in San Diego.  The front row is going to be pretty up close and personal. I gotta stop stressing, just focus on the music. I ran my fingers through my hair one last time before Stu gave me the thumbs up to go out. I passed Rizzle and he gave me a pat on the back. “You’ll do great, man”. I smiled and walked up the steps. The crowd started to scream even louder when I made it into the bright, blinding, stage lights. As always, I smiled and waved, walked over to my microphone. Performing was a rush. I sing, I play guitar, its what I love to do. But I see so many people, seas of people, every day, I can only remember a few. Those few that have the look in their eyes that they feel my music and truly appreciate it. I quieted the crowd down somehow for my opening song, so I could get in the right mindset. I looked around the crowd at all the faces, and none stood out to me. Then, I saw her. Front row to the right, with gleaming blue eyes and long blonde hair. She looked at me like nobody had before. It was like she saw and knew me for exactly who I was. I realized I was staring, so I awkwardly shifted my gaze away. As I approached the last song, I decided to do something I had never done before. I dedicated the song to her. I told the audience it was for someone truly special. I saw Stu give me a "what the hell" look from off stage, and I just shrugged Screw it, let the girlfriend rumors begin.   The song that I felt was just right for this feeling I had burning inside of me. I didn’t want it to be too obvious, so I looked down at the ground for the first couple verses, but with the bridge and chorus, I couldn’t stand not to look at her, her perfection. I sang to her with my heart on my sleeve and I didn’t even care who noticed. I knew she was something amazing. When the gig was over, and I said my goodbyes to the crowd, I rushed back to Stuart and asked what he could do. I told him what happened and if there was any way he could arrange for me to see her. He typed a few things into his phone rapidly, and in a few minutes said it was done.

“Done?” I asked wide-eyed. “What do you mean done?”

Stu smiled. “I got Trevor, our entertainment coordiantor to invite her and her friend to the after party, and they said they would go.”

I felt butterflies in my stomach. What would I even say to her? Hey, I think you’re the most amazing person I’ve ever seen? Nah, that sounds a bit desperate. Maybe just a simple hello to start out with.

As we got into the car that was waiting outside, and I saw the venue disappear into the distance behind us, I knew I was closer to her.

As I entered the party, and was greeted by a bunch of people, all I could think about was finding her. I looked down at my slightly sweaty t-shirt and decided to freshen up a bit in the loo, I shoudl probably ttry and make a nice first impression. I looked in the mirror at myself. Red hair, cargo shorts and a knockoff Nirvana t-shirt with a cat on it. I hope she’s not into the fancy type, I chuckled to myself.

As I walked out of the bathroom, I saw her walk through the door. Her eyes were wide; like she had never seen anything like this enormous house before.

When I finally got up the courage, I walked over to her, and said, “Hello.”

She turned around startled, and her mouth dropped open.

“W-what, you're Ed Sheeran???” she stuttered nervously. “Geez, how much did I have to drink?”

I laughed and invited her over to the main room to sit down and have a drink and chat.

“I just cant believe its really you. I mean, is this really happening right now?” she exclaimed shocked and happily.

Gosh, she was absolutely beautiful. Her eyes shone more and more as we talked more, and drank more. She was absolutely perfect. Her name was even beautiful, “”. I loved everything about her.

We moved over to one of the couches in the more secluded area, and talked even more.

“I’m sorry if this is a stupid question, but were you looking at me tonight? Or am I just trippin' ? I’m probably just crazy”, she slurred slightly.

I smiled. “Yes love, I was looking at you. Ever since I started my first song, I noticed you and the way you looked at me, it was absolutely beautiful.” I said as I blushed slightly.

She looked at me with such passion and intensity in her eyes, and leaned over quickly and kissed me. And then looked surprised and embarrassed.

“Oh my gosh, I am so sorry, I don’t know what came over me, I’m so stupid!”

I chuckled and moved a strand of her hair behind her ear.

“Love, I didn’t want you to stop”.

We kissed some more, laughed some more, and drank some more. She was very drunk at this point, and started to look pretty tired, so I decided to take her upstairs and put her in bed. I tucked her in softly and removed her shoes. She turned on her side, looked up at me with her shining blue eyes and said softly, “stay with me?”.

I smiled. “Of course, love.” I hummed “kiss me” quietly to her as she smiled and drifted off to sleep, her hand still interlocked with mine.

After about an hour, I decided to go downstairs to check on everyone. I let go of her hand softly, and chatted with some producers as they proceeded to congratulate me on my good work that night. After a while of small talk and even more drinks, I wanted to see her again. But when I went upstairs, she wasn’t there. I checked around the upstairs and downstairs, and she was nowhere to be found. I spotted Trevor and asked him if  he knew where they went.

“Oh yeah, they were pretty drunk, and her friend said they had a curfew so I called them a cab to take them home”, he explained.

I was crushed. I had her so close to me, and now she's gone?

Would I ever get to see her again? I needed to see her again. But I had the rest of my tour to go on. I was supposed to be in New York, across the country by later tomorrow. But I promised myself that one day I would find her again. I didn’t know her last name or address, but I knew for sure, we would meet again.
