“So, how did work go?” Ed asked as I downed my fajitas. I had been so busy today, eating slipped my mind.
“Oh you know, the usual boring stuff”, I said avoiding eye contact.
Should I tell him about the London offer? Or would he think we’re moving too fast?
Ed smiled. “You should quit your job and become a singer or something.”
I scoffed. “Yeah right. I cant even sing!”
Ed looked at me wide eyed. “What do you mean you can’t sing?! I hear you singing in the shower and it’s absolutely beautiful.”
I blushed. “Yeah right, the flattery isn’t gonna work.”
Ed reached for my hand. “I am not saying this to humor you. I genuinely think you have a better voice than half of the artists I come in contact with on tour.”
I squeezed his hand. Singing and songwriting was a passion of mine, but I had never had the courage to put myself out there.
“I could help you out, introduce you to some people” Ed said casually.
I had to keep myself from chocking on my water and keep a cool, collected face.
“T-that would be amazing…” I said shocked.
Ed smiled and pulled out his phone. “Here, I’ll text Taylor right now. She knows more about this kind of stuff than I do.”
I felt my heart skip a couple of beats.
“Taylor… Like as in Taylor Swift?” I breathed.
Ed looked up and laughed. “Yes. We got really close on the Red tour a couple years ago and she always gives me advice about the industry since she’s been around longer than I have. Did you know she sold her first album at----”
“Sixteen. Teardrops on my Guitar is like my favorite song” I interrupted and blurted out.
Ed raised an eyebrow and grinned. “Looks like we have a little fan girl over here. I’ll make sure to put that in the text”, he said sarcastically.
I blushed. “Yeah I guess I used to listen to her a lot”, I admitted shyly.
Ed laughed. “I can’t wait for you to meet her. She loves meeting aspiring new artists, especially if they’re fans.”
Holy shit.
“Yeah I can’t wait either”, I said trying to cover up my exploding excitement.
Ed put his phone down, stood up, and reached for my hand.
“I laid out an outfit for what I have planned for tonight in your bedroom” Ed said excitedly.
I was confused. “This isn’t it?”
Ed laughed. “Oh no Ms. Torres. Tonight will be one to remember.”
I walked into my room to see a beautiful sparkly blue dress and on it was a note that read. “Wear me with those sexy black shoes you wore in London.”
I grinned. I remember Ed complimenting me on them all that time ago… I can’t believe he remembered.
I slipped the dress on to find it fit absolutely perfect. The black shoes were the perfect finishing touch.
After I fixed my hair and did my makeup, I took a deep breath and looked in the mirror.
It’s time to get outside of your comfort zone and have some fun…
I walked out into the living room and stopped in my tracks when I saw Ed.
He was wearing a black tux with a blue tie that made his eyes sparkle beautifully. He looked back at me with the same sense of awe.
“You know, no matter how many times I see you, I swear you get even more beautiful each time…” Ed breathed as he offered me his hand.
I took it and looked up at him, emotions rushing through my head like a tornado.
“I can’t say enough how much you mean to me. You saved me from myself” I whispered in his ear.
“I’m here for you no matter what, love. I hope you know that”, he said softly, our faces almost touching.
And as soon as our lips touched, I felt his words beome even more believable.
