Decisions, Decisions...

“Good morning love.” I awoke to the sweet, soft sound of his voice as he kissed me lightly on the cheek.

I couldn’t help but smile and my stomach was consumed with butterflies. It had only been a couple days since our trouble in London, but I was relieved we didn’t have to end it there… He had come back for me.

Or, I at least hope he did... Maybe he could stay a while and I could show him around my city…?

“I made you a cup of tea. You didn’t have any English Breakfast, just orange passion”, he said as he handed me the warm mug.

“I should probably do some shopping… All I have in terms for breakfast is the crumbs at the bottom of a probably expired box of Captain Crunch”, I said laughing.

Ed took another sip of tea. “I could do some shopping for you when you’re at work. Just leave me a list, and I’ll go and pick it up.”

“Are you sure? I mean, I can do it on the way back from the office, it’s no big deal”, I said nonchalantly.

Ed shook his head and grinned. “I would be honored to do your shopping… And by the time you get home, I’ll have dinner ready too.”

“What are we having?” I asked curiously.

Ed laughed. “It’s a surprise.”

Oh how I loved surprises…

I sighed and kissed him on the cheek. “Well, I will see you later… I’ll miss you though…”

Ed grabbed me around the waist and pulled me in closer. “Not as much as I’ll miss you”, he said with a smile and kissed me.

I never wanted to leave but I had to…

I walked out the door, grinning like an idiot all the way to work.

When I got to the office, I walked over to my cubicle as usual, but this time, my co workers said hi to me along the way, smiling back at me…

That’s strange… Usually I just smile and they ignore me…

Maybe they’re having a good day…

I tenitively walked over to my cubicle and groaned under my breath at the undeniable stack of paperwork. All I wanted to do was spend the day with Ed… Not in a dusty old office building…

The sooner you get your work done, the sooner you can go home to him.

I took a deep breath and started with my work, and was so into it I almost missed my lunch break.

I walked over to the lunchroom where my co-workers and I sat and chatted about how much it sucks to be an intern.

But when I walked in, everyone was staring at me, whispering and smiling.

I blushed nervously. “What? Do I have something in my teeth or something?”

One of the guys James laughed. “No honey, we were just discussing how awesome it must be to be you.”

I just about chocked on the water I was sipping on. “W-what, why?” I stuttered.

James scooted closer to me. “Being engaged to a world famous musical artist is kind of a big deal!” he exclaimed, holding up the newest tabloid.

It was a close-up of Ed and I holding hands in the park, and an arrow was pointing to a ring on my hand. The title was: “When’s the Wedding Ed?”

I burst out laughing. That ring was one I had bought in London at a cute little boutique, but the only finger it fit on was my ring finger.

“That is completely untrue. I mean, we barely even know each other really…” I explained.

My friend Shelley laughed. “It’s okay even if it is… We’ll keep your secret”., she said with a wink.

I laughed nervously. Even though the thought of marrying Ed didn’t make me wanna cringe, it was still too soon to even start considering it.

I went to the bathroom, fixed up my hair, and begrudgingly went back to the paperwork.

I watched the clock tick by, and the very second it turned to five thirty, I was about ready to leave when my boss, Mr. Reed asked me to come to his office.

I wanted to leave so bad, but I knew this could be important. I hope I’m not getting fired for telling him I was out for a family thing…

“So, Ms. Torres, it has come to my attention that the vacation time you took off was not for family purposes, as you stated…” Mr. Reed started.

I quickly interrupted him. “I-I know, I-I’m super sorry sir, everything just happened so fast and I completely understand if you want to fire me… I should have told you the absolute truth” I rambled.

Mr. Reed laughed. “I’m not going to fire you Ms.Torres.I was actually going to ask you if you would be interested in taking up a higher position in our London branch… I have been impressed thus far with your work, and it has come to my attention that this would be beneficial for you and your relationship, that I have heard so much about around the office.”

I sat stunned, not knowing what to say. “Thank you so much for this sir. But can I get back to you in the next couple days with my decision?” I squeaked.

“Yes, that would be quite fine. Have a nice night”, Mr. Reed said with a nod.

As I walked out of the office and back to my apartment, my thoughts were racing at a thousand miles an hour… If I took the job in London, then I would get to see Ed more, but what about when he goes on tour? I wanted to travel the world with him, and see all the things he sees.

But you can’t quit your job… You’ve worked so hard to get to where you are today.

I sighed. What am I going to do?

As I walked up the stairs to my apartment and opned the door, I stepped back in shock. The apartment was decorated with beautiful flowers and white lights were draped along the curtains. A table for two was set up with a candle in the middle.

Ed grinned. “I’m sorry we can’t go out for dinner, but I made fajitas and rented the Princess Bride from Redbox...I remember you said it was your favorite.”

I blushed. “This… is… the sweetest thing anyone’s ever done for me”.

Ed grabbed my face with both of his hands and kissed me gently.

“I would do anything in the world for you.”
