Morning Frenzy

Subtle morning light shone through my curtains, and when I opened my eyes to see that Ed was still there, I felt butterflies in my stomach. This was actually happening. He was smiling, standing by the kitchen counter with two cups of what I presumed to be tea in his hands.

“Well good morning beautiful. Are you ready for our adventure?” he asked excitedly.

I looked outside to see the sun had barely risen. He wasn’t kidding about the early morning flight.

I smiled back at him nevertheless. “Of course I am”.

I stumbled out of bed and happily accepted the cup of warm tea.

“Thank you”, I said sleepily, with a yawn.

He chuckled slightly again.

“What is it?" I asked with a curious smile.

“It’s just you look so adorable when you’re tired”, he said with his famous half-smile.

I blushed yet again. “Oh stop it”, I said shyly as I slapped him playfully on the arm.

Ed’s phone rang and he looked down at it with a smile.

“Our ride to the airport is here”, he announced joyfully.

Oh crap, I better get dressed. I quickly threw on some sweats and a sweater and followed him out the door.

Our ride to the airport was the biggest, shiniest limousine I had ever seen.

“Wow, you sure do travel in style”, I remarked wittingly.

He laughed. “My manager insisted. He wanted the paparazzi to think I’m not the casual loser that I am.”

My eyes widened. The paparazzi were gonna be there? Why didn’t I think of this sooner? Of course they would be. He’s a world renound artist and I’m dressed and look like a homeless person.

As we arrived in the airport, I could see the men waiting outside of the entrance with their cameras ready.

Ed could tell that I was nervous.

“It’s alright. Just stay to my side, and don’t listen to them. They’re idiots.”

I cleared my throat and took a deep breath as I stepped out of the car beside Ed. The cameras started to instantly flash bright blinding lights, and as we were walking, they started to shout things at the same time. It was hard to understand. As we walked, Ed put his arm around my waist protectively. That made the paparazzi go crazy. And they shouted things like, “Ed is that your girlfriend?” “Who is she?” I kept my head down as they yelled and snapped pictures. Was I going to be in the tabloids?

As we got to security and the paparazzi couldn’t follow us any longer, I felt an instant sense of relief.

Ed looked at me slightly concerned. “Are you alright?”

I smiled. “Perfectly fine.”

When we got onto the plane, and were just settling in, I could tell that people were recognizing him. A couple of girls came up to get pictures with him. He smiled as he interacted with them but I could tell he just wanted to relax. I reached over and held his hand softly. He looked over and smiled.

“I’m so glad you’re here”, he said genuinely.

“I am too”, I said with true smile.

By the time we landed in London, 13 hours later, I felt exhausted but ready to go explore. I had never even been to Europe before, and I was here with someone I never expected.

I looked out the window as we descended, and all I could see were lights surrounding the city. Tall buildings, lots of moving cars. It looked enchanting.

Ed squeezed my hand as our plane touched the ground.

“Are you ready?” he asked excitedly.

“I’ve never been so ready in my entire life”, I replied dreamily.
