It’s a new year. Senior year of high school and everything in the air seems almost hopeful. It’s like this year is bound to be a new start for everyone. After everything that’s happened … well let’s hope it’s a fresh start.

First day of senior year at Mystic Falls High School and a group of girls are standing in front of the school … apprehensive, thoughtful and hopeful.

“This is the time to just not look back, and just keep going forward. It could be a really good thing that I’m single for senior year.No Damon, No Stefan, just me.” Elena muses.

“Yep, definitely. You’ll get to focus on school, and just live a boy-free, drama-free life. It could really do you some good, Elena.” Bonnie agreed.

“Yeah, totally Elena, I couldn’t have said it better myself” Caroline distractedly agreed while reading a text message.

“Is Tyler already texting you for some pre-first period hook up?” Bonnie rolls her eyes.

"You guys were inseperable all summer, you should've had enough by now." Elena teases.

“Ew no, don’t say that. I am perfectly capable of not humping him every two seconds. You guys make me sound so … sex crazed” Caroline continues to look around and texts distractedly.

“Is that so? Then who are you texting like crazy then? We are supposed to be enjoying this last, first walk through inside Mystic Falls High as seniors. You said this yourself last night, Ms. I am-So-Positive-About-This-Year” Elena grumbles while adjusting the strap of her messenger bag.

“Yeah I still mean that, obviously. I’m just looking for Nicolette.” Caroline smiles and looks up at her two friends.

“Who?” both Elena and Bonnie asked in confusion.

“Ah, there is she is!” Caroline exclaims. “Guys, please, please, please be nice to her. I cannot emphasize that enough. She’s new to Mystic Falls and I want her in the cheerleading team and I think she’s kind of amazing.”

This really tall, incredibly beautiful girl walks up. She has the most stunning and intense blue eyes.

“Hi, Hi, oh my gosh, hey Nicky! It’s so good to see you again! How was your summer?” Caroline gushed, she was all fidgety and Elena and Bonnie exchanged looks as if to say ‘what the hell is wrong with Caroline?’

“My summer was alright, a lot of tanning and lazing around in Ibiza. I did a whole European thing with a few friends” Nicky said.

“That sounds so great! I am so jealous! I was stuck here in Mystic Falls half the time and the other half I was at my dad’s” Caroline pouted.

“Mm” Nicky made some non-committal noise. “Are you gonna introduce me to your friends Caroline?” she added.

“Oh my god, yeah, shit. I totally forgot.Caroline blushed and smacked her forehead."Guys, this is Nicolette, but everyone calls her Nicky. I met her during the summer when I was in France with my dad and his boyfriend."

“Oh wow, ouch Caroline.” Bonnie joked. “Hi, I’m Bonnie” she smiled gingerly and shook Nicky’s hand. As soon as their hands touched, Bonnie got a very intense glimpse into Nicky's feelings and memories; she stiffened, inhaled sharply for a second, before getting back her composure.

Nicky felt what Bonnie felt and looked at Bonnie intently, urging her not to say anything to her 2 friends. “Hi Bonnie, nice to meet you” she smiled nicely instead.

“And this is Elena Gilbert” Caroline said. Elena was momentarily stunned at how gorgeous Nicky is and almost forgot to shake her hand back. “Hi, I’m sorry, you are just so beautiful and I love your outfit” Elena blushed. Nicky smirked a little and for a second that smirked reminded Elena of someone but the association quickly passed.

“Hi Elena.” Nicky mustered to say despite the sour taste in her mouth. She already didn’t like this Elena girl so much, the resemblance was just hitting a little too close to home.

“Hey babe, what’s going on here” Tyler came out of nowhere and hugged Caroline from behind, kissing her intensely in front of the girls.

Caroline managed to break the kiss off after Bonnie awkwardly coughed. “Hi Tyler, just introducing the girls to Nicky.” She started “Nicky, this is my boyfriend Tyler.”

“Hey Tyler.” Nicky said. “Wow” was all Tyler could say. Caroline elbowed him. “Ow, babe!” Tyler exclaimed, rubbing his side. “Tyler and I are leaving, we’ll catch up with you girls later” and as soon as they walked off, you could see Tyler trying to hug Caroline and explain his little slip-up comment.

“You’ll have to excuse Caroline and Tyler, they’re a dramatic couple” Elena said while tucking her hair behind her ear. “Well, I’ve gotta get inside, I have some stuff to hand in to Mr. Saltzman … some summer work” Elena mumbled and hurriedly went inside.

“I guess it’s just you and me then” Bonnie trailed.

“I know what you saw, I’d appreciate it if you didn’t say anything to anyone” Nicky said cutting to the chase.

“I wasn’t planning on saying anything, I didn’t think it was my business anyways, but I’m just wondering, why did I get a glimpse of Klaus?” Bonnie asked with brows furrowed in confusion.

“Ha, why Klaus. Hm, that’s always been the question” Nicky smirked sadly. “All in good time Bonnie. Anyways, why don’t you show me around Mystic Falls High and maybe take me to my first class?” Nicky smiled and loped her arm with Bonnie’s. The two girls made their way inside and Bonnie tried really hard to keep those glimpses at bay. Bonnie was going to make sure to get answers out of Nicky though, but not today.

Nicky’s POV

High School is still as boring as ever. It's so overrated and just a total pain. I’m actually surprised I lasted a whole day without ripping someone’s head off because of their immaturity, arrogance or just their utter lack of a common sense. High school is so cliché but I couldn’t have just come into Mystic Falls and done nothing to at least blend in a little. So high school it is then.

“Where is my stupid locker?” I grumbled, walking all over the hallways, desperately trying to avoid anyone that could possibly want to get to know me. I just wanted to get out of here and go home and possibly formulate a better plan to find them.

“Oh my bloody god. It cannot be you,” exclaimed someone from behind me. My heart honestly skipped a beat. That British accent couldn’t have been more obvious or pronounced.
