Lizzie's P.O.V.
Oh my god, I can't believe Toriel left us! And to think I trusted her to take care of us...
"Hellooo? Earth to Liz? What are you even waiting for?" Julia says, snapping me back to reality.
"Oh, yeah... right. Sorry 'bout that." I respond, clearing my throat.
"Well, let's go already!"
I didn't feel like admitting this to Julia, but.. to be honest, I was terrified at this point. Toriel had mentioned that monsters may attack us, and I'm not ready for that. We already won the fight with the Froggit, but only with Toriel assisting us. Who knows what the ruins have in store for us?
"Yes, let's go." I say earnestly.
Julia doesn't seem even slightly scared or freaked out. In fact, she looks eager, excitedly running ahead of me.
"Come on, slowpoke! Better to go fast."
I run to catch up with her, and once I do, she grips my arm tightly, and I think it's because she's scared- no. Instead, she drags me along while sprinting down the corridor.
"Watch it, you'll rip my arm off!" I scream.
"WEEEELLL, if you weren't so slow, I wouldn't have to dr- huh? Whats that?"
I follow her eyes to a pillar at the end of the hall.
"Think it could be a trap?" I say.
"Better to find out now." She says, and as we approach it, we see a blur of purple and white emerge from behind the pillar. Julia takes a fighting stance, but it turns out to be Toriel. She instantly drops the pose and stares at Toriel.
"I thought she left us?" I whisper.
"Shhh."
"Greetings, my children." She smiles. "Do not worry, I did not leave you. I was merely behind this pillar the whole time."
"Good to know, good to know." Julia says, although she's clearly bothered by Toriel's re-appearance.
"Thank you for trusting me." She says. "However, there was an important reason for this exercise... to test your independence."
"Liz over here was 3 seconds from crying like a baby." Julia snickers, jabbing her thumb at me.
"Was not!" I snap.
Toriel laughs slightly. "I must attend to some business, and you must stay alone for a while. Please remain here. It's dangerous to explore by yourself."
I can tell by the look in Julia's eyes that she plans on running off as soon as Toriel leaves. She must see that I noticed, so she averts her eyes and stares at her shoes.
"I have an idea." Toriel smiles. "I will give you a cell phone. If you have a need for anything, just call. Be good, alright?" And with that, she swiftly turns away and walks off deeper into the ruins.
"I know what you're thinking." I say, glaring at Julia. "I can't stop you from going, but I'm certainly going with you."
"Ughhh, fine! But if you get stuck on a puzzle, don't blame me."
As soon as we walk into the next room, my phone starts ringing. Instinctively, I pick up and say "Hello?"
"Hello, this is Toriel! You have not left the room, have you?" She says, and I feel a pang of guilt. "There are a few puzzles ahead that I have yet to explain. It would be dangerous to try to solve them yourself. Be good, alright?" She hangs up.
