Alphys - Chapter 17

Julia's P.O.V.

We make our way back to where we last saw the Riverwoman, and she just so happens to be there, so we ask for a ride back to Hotland. "Tra la la. Temmie village..." She says softly. "The room before the darkening lantern room." As we get closer to Hotland, the temperature immediately goes through the roof. Man, what an ironic name for such a hot place. In a minute or so, we arrive. "Come again sometime. Tra la la."

To our right is a large white facility labeled 'Lab', and when we approach the door, it automatically opens. I shoot a look at Lizzie saying 'Should we go in?'. She nods and we walk inside, and the atmosphere gets very dark. There's barely any light, but to our left we see a screen... and we're on it?! Whoever works here must have been watching us...

Up ahead, we hear the swooshing sound of a door. A figure walks out and turns on the light, revealing a yellow monster in a lab coat with glasses on her face. She turns to walk toward the desk next to us, and when she sees us her eyes widen immediately. I doubt she'll hurt us, but I stay alert just in case. If only I still had my knife... "Oh. My god. I didn't expect you to show up so soon!" The monster says. "I haven't showered, I'm barely dressed, it's all messy and..."

"Woah, slow down there." Lizzie says. "Ummm... h-h-hiya! I'm Dr. Alphys. I'm Asgore's royal scientist!" Alphys says. I think to myself for a short moment, then turn to my left. "Man, I hope she doesn't harm us... we've already had such an adventure." I mention to Liz, in front of the scientist, might I add. I don't want her to think I'm just going to talk bad about her, so I add "I hope Undyne forgives us about her house..."

Alphys blushes at the mention of Undyne. "Y-y-you were with U-undyne?" She asks. "Oooohh, does somebody have a crush?" I smirk. Her face turns tomato red. "N-no! o-of course n-" "EEEEE!!!" Lizzie squeals. "I ship it! IT'S SUCH A CUTE SHIP!" I grab Lizzie and hold her down. "GET AHOLD OF YOURSELF, WOMAN!" I shout.

"Ahhhh, I'm not one of the 'bad guys'!" Alphys interrupts, the mad blush fading away. "Actually, since you stepped out of the Ruins, I've, um... been 'observing' your journey through my console." She looks at me. "Your fights..." She looks at Lizzie. "Your friendships... everything!" She looks around the room nervously. "I was originally going to stop you, but... watching someone on a screen really makes you root for them. S-so, ahhh, now I want to help you!" Lizzie grins, and I suppress a small smile.

"Using my knowledge, I can easily guide you through Hotland! I know a way right to Asgore's castle, no problem!" She wipes her hands on her lab coat. "Well, actually, umm, there's just a tiny issue. A long time ago, I made a robot named Mettaton. Originally, I built him to be an entertainment robot. Uh, you know, like a robotic TV star or something. Anyway, recently I decided to make him more useful. You know, just some small practical adjustments. Like, um... anti... anti-human combat features?"

Uhhh....

"Of c-course, when I saw you coming, I immediately decided... I have to remove those features! Unfortunately, I may have made a teensy mistake while doing so. And um... now he's an unstoppable killing machine with a thirst for human blood? Ehehehehe... heh." Oh boy, this is going to be one hell of a journey through Hotland, worring about a robot who's thirsty for my blood. "But, ummm, hopefully we won't run into him!"

Suddenly, there's a loud bang on the wall. Then another. "Did you hear something?" Alphys asks. Liz and I both nod. It happens a few more times, and Alphys gasps. "Oh no." A hole gets burst through the wall, and all the lights turn off. It just HAS to be that robot Alphys was talking about. I could tell by the look on her face.

"OHHHHH YES!" The voice says. "Welcome, beauties..." A mysterious spotlight appears and shines down on... guess what, a robot!! "To today's quiz show!!!" Quiz show? I think to myself. A bunch of colored lights switch on, as well as a sign that says 'GAME SHOW'. "Oh boy! I can already tell it's gonna be a great show! Everyone give a big hand for our wonderful contestant!" Mettaton says, cuing the fake applause in the background. I guess he can tell that we're confused, though, because he says-
