Chapter Fourteen
Thoughts clouded everything around me, I didn't understand where I was or what I was doing. It was darkness that embraced me, inviting me inside it's deepest secrets. "Mum?" My throat was tightened with together, begging for liquid to be poured down it. "Mum, I know you're here" Her presence was all over the place, a small chuckle caused me to squint my eyes, wishing that I had cat eyes so I could see this woman in the dark. "My baby girl" Her hands travelled down my eyes, my lips trembled with sorrow and sadness. "Mum!" I cried out holding onto her "Mum, why did you have to leave me?" Tears travelled down my cheeks. "I'm sorry" My head burned as she kissed me. "You will be stronger" Her nails dug deep into my shoulders. "You will make them pay" Her touch left me, I felt vulnerable to the unknown, heat burned my feet, I knew where I was, I knew where my mother was. Hell, calling me to connect with it and share eternity with it. Horror crawled up my spine.
I felt my fingers move first, feeling the bedding under me, I was safe. Air travelled into my body causing my head feel as if my head was above the clouds. I sat up suddenly and it didn't take a genius to figure out that I regretted this decision with everything I had. I had to blink a thousand times before adjusting to the light of this place. "Aa-alex" I pushed myself against the railing of the bed behind me. He turned to face me, I gulped as he pulled a chair and sat besides me, his hands were in a bucket as looked down. "What-?" I remember hitting my head against the chest of drawers in Alex's room but what happened? "Something has occurred, something bad." A new voice caused me to turn my head, Calvin leaning against the wall. "What?" I sat myself up with confidence, with Calvin in the room Alex couldn't come near me.
Calvin sighed closed his eyes and ignored my question. "What happened?" I asked forcefully, why were Alex and Calvin being so distant? "You were out for 2 weeks" Calvin ran his fingers through his hair. "And? I'm awake now, isn't that what matters?" I asked with confusion. "We don't care about your recovery." Alex spat, nothing had changed between us I guessed. "We only care about you because Blaze is our friend and has taken a liken in you" Alex made a disgusted face. I breathed heavily, "So why are you here, if you don't care?" Alex's hands twitched "Because of you-" His fangs ripped out of his gums as he held the railings of the bed but before he could get violent, Calvin was by his side to calm the storm that was swirling inside the man who had a crush on him.
"Because of me what?" My eyes got heavier, the vampire inside me lashed out at Alex, as I grabbed his shirt. The action took Alex by surprise, "Because of me what?" I repeated, my inner monster surfacing. "Dogs are coming" Calvin's eyes red with rage "That's what happened because of you" He said slowly. At first didn't have a clue at what he had suggested but then information overloaded me. "Do you think that I like the dogs, any more than you? I couldn't choose who my parents were." I jabbed my finger into Calvin's chest, pushing him slightly. "As much as you can't choose the fact that you keep rejecting Alex because you're afraid of what others will think" I yelled at him before looking at his defeated structure. "You have someone who loves you more than himself and you care about society's thoughts" My fangs grew longer as I pushed my wolf back, this had to be done vampire vs. vampire. Alex grabbed my arms and pulled me back "You had no right to say that" He shouted his face was red, not with rage or even anger but with embarrassment. "Yes I do" I whispered, ignoring the tears streaming down my face "Because you were the first person who's cared about me, my first friend even if it was all for show"

Blaze had been badly blood poisoned but was recovering, he was squeezing information and information out of me about wolves. Frustration had devoured him, consumed all his brain cells. Blaze clicked his fingers to get my attention as I stared into the distance "Oi dog" He grabbed my shoulders, giving me a proper nudge. "What?" I snapped at him, getting off the chair I was imprisoned to. Blaze gulped at my outrage, "What happened to you?" He asked, trying hard to sit me back. "I'm tired of this." My arms flew around the room, dramatically. "All of this, I don't want them to come here" Flashbacks of Aaron's discovery of 'my dead body' crept into my mind, I couldn't imagine his face when he saw me alive.
