Chapter Thirteen

I cried out while Blaze looked unaffected, "I'm a curse now?" I asked, screaming at the top of my lungs. Blaze shrugged his shoulders "In all mythological books, yes you are." He put his hands into his pockets and began to walk away. "Well dog is better than curse if I should say so myself." He commented making the frowns in my eyebrows run deeper. The werewolf man from the senate grabbed me, "Mia Nixon" He growled into my ear "Aren't you doing well for a dead pup" He sneered, I turned to glare at him, flames of bright oranges and reds ran loose from my nose and ears. "You're going to spread the news, a dead girl's come back?" I asked, attempting to quieten the loud thumps of my heart. "Well" The man touched the ends of my short hair "No one's going to believe me" He sighed before letting the corner of his mouth rise against gravity "And besides, I do think that pup is long gone. Don't you agree?"

My raised eyebrow, showed him I was confused "Maximus Landon" He extended his hand and I placed mine between it. This time when he smiled it was genuine, teeth and all "A good friend of your mother's and Nixon's too" He nodded at me "You take a lot from her and not just the looks" He grinned messing around with my hair, due to them being too short they easily slipped out of his hand. "You're not a curse" He whispered, probably trying to avoid other people's attention "Ignore the folklore and you'll be fine" I found myself getting invited into his words and agreeing with his soothing words. Someone walked towards him, whispering in his ears "Senate calls, well then Mia, I guess I'll see you around" And with that the man with the black cloak, Maximus Landon disappeared.

Blaze was stood in the corner of the room his eyes were darkened with misery but before I could take action, I realised Alex already has his arm over Blaze's shoulder, comforting him like a brother or someone closer. There was a ping in my heart, and my lungs folded over it, for a moment I was stunned at what happened inside me yet, I dismissed it for the cold atmosphere around me. "Blaze" I called out, both the boys turned to look at me. "You okay?" I asked, slightly confused as to why he was stood so still, I extended my hand to touch him but Alex slapped my hand away. "Don't you think you've done enough, because of you the senate came here and-" Blaze calmed Alex "It's not the dog's fault" He whispered meekly before drifting off into the corridor. After Blaze was out of sight, Alex towered over me "Hear that" He gritted his teeth and smirked "That's what you are to him, a low life. A dog."

Alex's word punched me straight in the nose, I lowered my eyes "Why are you doing this?" I asked with spite. Alex lowered towards me, his hand of the wall behind us "Because I can give you better" He bit the top of my ear, making me push him far away as possible from myself, we stood in silence, breathing irregular and quickly. Alex liked me?

~

The corridors were empty and the vampires had gone out hunting but I wasn't allowed to participate in the killing, something about me not being a pure blood. My wolf nested inside me, whispering me to it. I has already planned what I was going to do. Brown doors adjacent to each other and there it was, a room marked clearly with Alex Kingston. The tips of my fingers went blue, but I wasn't going to do anything wrong, all I was doing was become Sherlock Holmes and find information about Alex. I didn't believe for a second he liked me, you don't lie to your friends.

I opened his bedroom door and peered in, everything corresponding with each other. He has brown sheets and brown curtains, a light cream flooring, someone his age, someone so young shouldn't have a bedroom designed for a grandpa. I opened the chest of drawers on my left, Papers in the first one, letters of some sort. I picked them up and rummaged through them one by one. All addressed to Alex Kingston, but it was a large envelope that caught my attention, a psychiatrist report, I opened it up and removed several papers in different colours, green blue and pink. Why would Alex, out of all people need a psychiatrist? The question baffled me so I started to scan through the pages. The main door opened downstairs and my heart skipped several beats, I put the papers back where they belong and walked out of Alex's room calmly, reminding myself I did nothing wrong but as soon as I made my way around the corner, Alex looked down at me. "Why are you in this wing?" He asked, annoyance marked on his face. "I-I just-" I stuttered, looking for the right word in my limited dictionary.

"You what, got lost?" He asked pushing me against the wall, I looked into the depths of his red eyes, getting mesmerised by the contraction of his pupils. "You've been here for almost two months and you've got lost?" His voice was laced with hate. "Yes, no, I mean yes. Kind of" Lies failed me as Alex look uninterested, he grabbed my wrist and dragged me to his room, with very little light coming in and no other soul travelling around us, Alex pushed me onto the floor, the impact made way to my skull and his large statue figure made me remember for the first time in what seemed like forever, of Blake, my brother. "What you were you looking for?" Alex opened his drawers and peered in. "What?" Confusion hit me hard, how did he find out I was in here? "DON'T ACT DUMB" Alex's roar shook the ground underneath me. His face was red with fury, in his hands were the psychiatrist's documents.

His fists became tighter by his side as he walked away and fell backwards on his bed. "Half an hour" He mumbled "You've got half an hour to leave this land." He sat up and clutched onto the brown sheets. "No" I needed to stand my ground against Alex, prove to him I wasn't weak or vulnerable. "No?" Alex repeated. "If you think I'm going to tell someone I'm not!" I shouted, tears forming inside my eyes, stand your ground, stand your ground my wolf reminded me. "It's okay Alex" I had read the papers, and from the look on Alex's face, I knew it was supposed to be kept a secret. Alex grabbed my throat and pinned me against the wall before I could blink twice, I didn't fight him and soon black dots started to form around me and just before I passed out, Alex let go.

Coughing to save my life, I looked up at Alex with sadness. "You love another guy." I whispered "And that's okay, you don't need a psychiatrist to be involved with who you love" I tried to comfort him by keeping a calm, soothing voice but that was very difficult to do, knowing that Alex almost killed me only moments ago. Alex's eyes turned to ash as he glared like the devil. "What?" Poison dribbled from his mouth "You love Blaze" I mumbled, everything made sense, the reason behind Alex always being close to Blaze to hating me. Alex sniggered and turned his head still with nothing but pure rage. "No wait, you don't love Blaze" I realised my mistake "You're in love with Calvin!" Information struck me, lightning bolt after lightning bolt, the shy behaviour, the need to run away...

The last thing I remember of that night, is hearing a loud crunch of bone against a wall or something similar.
