ch. 8

> Ari's POV <
it's been a few days. there was no school for a while because of a storm so i obviously stayed home.

but it's been a week now and it's thursday today. i really don't know how i'm gonna go to school without being an emotional mess. yes, i'm still broken. jade was the one who was "always there" for me when i needed it. i always thought she cared. i was wrong. she would just listen to what i would have to say but not give a fuck about it.

i let my curly hair down and touched up my face. i wasn't feeling it today, but simply put on a light pink, fuzzy, crop sweater, high-waisted light denim jeans, and my white air maxes.

i swung my back pack strap around my shoulder and made my way down stairs. i froze in front of the front door for about 5 seconds, then decided i wasn't gonna eat breakfast this morning. it's not a big deal if i skipped it anyway.

i left my house, locking up the front door. i started walking to school.

i soon heard footsteps running behind me. i turned around to see daniel.

"hey ari," he greeted as he slowed down his pace and walked by my side.

"hey," i replied, "why are you in a rush?"

he smiled and told me, "oh nothin, just wanna walk with ya." he threw his arm around my neck as we continued to walk to school.

after a few minutes of walking and joking around, daniel and i finally arrived. we entered the main hall, in search of the crew. we past through groups of people, until he spotted kev, dev, and jailene standing by one of the lockers. daniel walked the both of us up to them.

"hey guys," i greeted.

they were all smiling and laughing, but stopped and gave their attention to us.

"uh, hey" dev said with confusion on his face. jailene looked confused too.
kevin looked lowkey mad.

i realized daniel's arm was still around me. i brushed his hand off of my shoulder, which he noticed. he took it off and said, "i gotta get my spanish book. catch y'all later."

"i gotta go too," devin added, "see ya."

they both left, leaving kev, jailene, and i alone there. kev faced me.

"you and daniel?" he spoke up.

"me and daniel? what about us? we're friends" i clarified.

he smirked and said, "you guys would be cute," then walked away.

i was confused. why would he say that? that's so weird. especially after all the moves he would make on me. i quickly turned to jailene to stop myself from thinking about it.

"hey," i sighed.

"hey..." she said, "real quick, why did kev say you and daniel would be cute? i thought he liked you."

"i don't know" i replied. it kinda hurt. "well we should start our way to class. i start with english."

jailene softly smiled, "so do i, let's go."

*skip to lunch*

i walked into the lunch room and saw daniel and emily already sitting at our table. i started walking over towards them, until someone bumped into me. i looked to my right.

this is the only person i did not want to see today.

"watch where you're-," jade yelled, "...going." she realized it was me, then before walking away, rolled her eyes and laughed.

i watched as she walked over to her new, bitchy, squad. that included herself, shannon, tori, and j'nai. i knew all of them, but j'nai was the sweetest. she was actually really chill but still had sass.

i sighed, then continued walking to the table.

"hey guys,"

i took a seat, then soon felt someone sit to my left. i turned my head to see kevin. he smiled at me, as i faked a smile back.

"ari, want this?" emily asked, as she raised a sandwich at me.

"sure, thanks," i replied, as she tossed it over.

i caught it, ripped the plastic off, then began to eat. soon, jailene and dev got to the table. jailene grabbed out her own lunch from her bag, as the boys went up into the to get their own food.

a few minutes later, the boys came back.

"i got you a juice box," kevin said, handing it to me. i smiled, "thank you."

"you're welcome," he said, before taking a bite of his food.

i took the very last bite of my sandwich, then crumpled up the napkin i was using. i felt a pair of eyes on me. immediately, i knew it was kevin. i turned to face him then he said, "wait," he placed his fingers on my chin, turning my head to face away from him. i felt his fingers brush against my cheek, causing me to blush.

his touch could stop time.

"what was it?" i asked as he stopped.

"you had crumbs on ya face," he giggled.

ugh he's so cute. his smile, laugh, everything.

"well thanks."

after a few seconds of silence, devin burst out in laughter. i shot my head up at him. he was pointing at kev and i, wiggling his eyebrow. i smiled and mouthed, "stop it."
