“Alright, you have all your things in your trunk. Here is Oscar” Luther said, handing me Oscar’s cage. I took it and nodded excitedly. I was very eager to go back. Daphne then came up to me awkwardly. We hadn’t talked much since I yelled at her.

“Good luck” She said

“Thanks, and I’m sorry”

“It’s ok” She waved it off

“Well, I better get on” I said as the train whistle blew. They all waved and I waved back. Once I got in, the train started moving.

I carried Oscar’s cage down the hallway, looking for an empty or almost empty cabin. I came across one with only two people. One was a tall and skinny girl with a pixie cut, and bangs nearly covering her eyes. Her hair was light blond with a teal strip in the bangs. The other was a boy who was also tall and skinny, and had hair like hers, except his was all black.

I opened the door reluctantly. The both looked over at me. The girl was very loose and chill, though a little skeptical, and the boy was very nervous and shaky.

“I’m sorry, everywhere else is full. Can I sit here?”

“Sure” The girl shrugged, but still looked suspicious, and it was making me more and more nervous. “Sorry for staring, but I don’t think I’ve seen you before, and you can’t be a first year”

“No, I’ve just transferred here” I said

“Really? From where?” She asked, suddenly interested.

“Salem Witches’ Institute”

“Wow, America. Say, what’s your name?”

“Astoria Greengrass”

“Greengrass?” The boy suddenly spoke. I looked over at him. His eyes grew wide and he became quiet again, and looked away.

“Don’t mind him. He’s just shy” The girl shrugged. “You wouldn’t happen to be related to Daphne Greengrass”

“She’s my sister, do you know her?”

“Not really. We just know you’re in one of those rich, pure blood snob families” She laughed but then looked to me. “No offense”

“None taken, but we really are only like that when we’re in public…er…at least they are. I’ve never really been good at being rich” I shrugged

“Oh, we haven’t even introduced ourselves” The girl suddenly said, and the boy looked extra shaky. “My name is Gwen Byrd, and this is Braxton Byrd”

“Oh, so you guys are related?” I asked

“Only by blood” The boy coughed and I smiled

“We’re fraternal twins” She sighed, rolling her eyes. “I died my hair to do anything to be as different from him as possible, but low and behold he gets put in Slytherin too” She said sarcastically and my ears perked up. She noticed and said, “Well, you should be used to Slytherins, your whole family is”

“Yeah” I nodded

Just then the door was burst open by a boy who was dressed in very nice clothes. He was a handsome boy with dark brown hair and hazel eyes. He seemed to have a very high respect for himself just the smirk on his perfect face. But I seemed to be oblivious to his looks.

“Well, well, well. Look who we have here” He said, looking straight at Gwen. She seemed like she was trying very hard to stare at something out the window while Braxton hid his face. “Isn’t it the loser club sitting all alone?”

“Shove off” Gwen said angrily

“Awwwe, is Gwen upset that she isn’t in my cabin with all of the rich and cool people” He got right next to her face.

She ignored him which made him a little frustrated, but then he caught sight of me. He smirked again and put his hands on the chair on either side of my hips. He put his face so close to mine that our noses were almost touching.

I didn’t think anything of it though.

“And who might you be?” He asked

“Astoria Greengrass” I drawled

“Greengrass?” He raised an eyebrow

“Leave her alone, Dylan” Gwen said and he chuckled but didn’t move.

“What’s a pretty little Greengrass doing here when she could be sitting in my cabin…or in my lap?” He said and I laughed at him. “Think it’s funny do you? Well you’re not seeing it from my point of view”

“I’d love to see it from your point of view, but I don’t think I can get my head that far up my ass” I said and Braxton burst out laughing. Dylan stood up, completely furious that I would dare to say something like that. He opened his mouth to say something, but closed it and stormed out.

“That was brilliant” Gwen said and Braxton nodded

“Thanks” I smiled. “I’ve had my fair share of snobby people in my life. Who was that anyways?”

“The most cocky, self-centered, stereotypical Slytherin there was”

I don’t know about that

“So I’m guessing not a friend?”

“He used to be” Braxton said shyly

“Really? What happened?”

“His dad got a big promotion in the ministry so now he thinks he’s hot stuff” Gwen sighed

“So he comes around here just to harass you guys?”

“Pretty much” She shrugged

It was kind of awkward standing with the first years to get sorted, but it would soon be my turn. I had already planned out what would happen when they called my name. I would tell the hat not to put me into Gryffindor, and he’ll put me in Ravenclaw.

Easy Peasy

“Greengrass, Astoria” McGonagall called. I went up to the stool and sat as the Hat was placed on top of my head.

“Mmmm, cozy spot, but not peaceful. Yes, there is a lot on your mind, and a lot can fit there” The Hat said

“Please not Gryffindor” I whispered

“Oh, I already know you don’t want to go there, you would fit in though. Just like you had before” He then whispered. “Second time you’ve changed your name”

“Tis a hard decision, but I must say…SLYTHERIN!” The table farthest away erupted with cheers, but I was so shocked to hear them. I went numb, but still went to sit down by Gwen. I didn’t snap out of my daze until she yelled loudly in my ear.

“Are you alright?” She laughed coolly

“I’m fine, I just zone out sometimes” I waved it off.

Slytherin? How did I get put into Slytherin? I got rid to the Horcrux! I was supposed to be in Ravenclaw. I prepared to be in Ravenclaw. This just doesn’t make any sense. I thought about this to myself as everyone around me ate there selves away. I wasn’t much hungry, just like always.

When dinner was over Gwen showed me to the room she stayed in alone. There weren’t many Slytherin girls so she had a room to herself but said I could stay with her. I was glad I had met her and Braxton. It would have been hard trying to fit in here without some help.

That night I felt it very hard to sleep. I wondered if this was it. I wondered if this was my life now, and it wasn’t going to get any worse. I wondered if I would ever have peace with myself.

There seemed to be something assuring me that trouble will come.

Some part feared this was true

And another feared it was false.
