I breathed heavily. I couldn’t believe what I had just read. I tried not to scream in the middle of the Great Hall. Gwen tried to look over my shoulder at the let but I quickly stood up and abandoned my breakfast.

I went through the halls, looking for a place, any place that was abandoned. I finally gave up and ran to my room, fearing that I may blow. Luckily I got into my room just in time to let out the most painful and frustrated scream I could muster.

The letter crinkled a bit in my clenched fists, but I wasn’t too worried about that. The only thing I cared about was finding out how the hell someone can be so INCREDIBLY STUPID!

I had to reread the letter, just to make sure there wasn’t any sign of a joke. And for Daphne’s life’s sake I hope this was all a big joke.

Dear Baby Sister,

I completely get where you are coming from. I have been thinking about this a lot too. I do not understand why you should have to stay so far away from them, or him, either. It definitely isn’t fair to the rest of us that you cannot be with these people.

For one, the Greengrass family has had a special family bond with the Malfoys for years and years because of Dad’s work with Lucius in the ministry. They used to come over almost every other month and holiday, but lately, because of you, they haven’t been coming over at all.

I especially think it unfair and useless that I have had to suffer through this too. That is why I am so glad you think this. Since you show very little interest (I know this because of the Young Ministers of the World gala) I have taken it upon myself to do this:

I have asked Draco Malfoy to be my boyfriend. It gives you the perfect space needed to keep your distance while still getting comfortable. He has accepted me and we are together, and will probably be getting engaged very soon. The families have wanted the pureblood join for so long now.

Thank you for finally smartening up,

Daphne Greengrass

I crumpled up the parchment and threw it to the ground.  I then stomped on it repeatedly until my anger was out, and even then I still felt my blood boil. I decided that I needed to run. I NEEDED to run. So I did, and thought as I did.

I could not believe her! This was an all-time low, even for her! She knows how in love I am with him even if he doesn’t…love me back. Oh… Maybe he does need to find someone else. Maybe he was going to ask her out even if she hadn’t. She did say they wanted the families joined together for a long time now.

But I’m part of the family! Why can’t Draco fall in love with me and we be the link between the families instead of Daphne.

Maybe we can…maybe I can win him back.

I stopped running at the sudden realization that had occurred to me.

I had to make a plan, so I ran back to the Slytherin common room and then to the girl’s dormitories. Once I opened the door to my dormitory, I stopped in my tracks. Braxton was sitting on my bed, looking to be on the verge of tears.

“Braxton, what’s wrong?” I said softly, completely obliterating the problem I had at hand.

“I have to tell you something” He sighed

I sat down across from him on my bed and held his hand in mine to make him feel more comforted. “Go ahead”

“I knew you would be here before Gwen would, and…well…she isn’t quite as understanding as you are. Gwen can be a bit harsh sometimes” He took a deep and shuddering breath. “We’ve become such good friends over the past year, and there’s something about you that makes me feel like I can tell you anything”
