Everyone reacts to seeing the dead in different ways. Some people are overjoyed and happy. Some people run, and they never stop running. Some people get angry and confused. Some people deny it. Some people react like nothing at all. And some people go plain crazy. But the one I’ve found most common are the people that scream

And, like Daphne, Ginny was a screamer.

Draco paid no attention to her and dragged me past.

I wanted to sit and hold her. Tell her she was alright, but I had other people to worry about. I felt a tear fall as they came to Ginny’s scream.

George was the first one to come, then Ron, then Hermione, then Harry. I could only assume that Mr. and Mrs. Weasley were out. They all just sort of stared. And clever Harry was the first one to talk.

“She is like me” He almost cracked a smile

“You’re not dead” Hermione whispered

“Of course she’s dead” Ron spat. “Who is that, Malfoy?”

“Victoria-“

“Stop! You can’t say her name. The ministry will be right on our backs” George said

“Who is she!?!” Ron screamed through gritted teeth

“Ron” I said in a quiet voice

“YOU, SHUT UP!” Ron yelled and I took a step back. He had a tear dripping from his chin. “The Victoria I know wouldn’t leave us like that! She wouldn’t!”

“She did” I said

Ron ran back up the stairs. I walked towards them to follow Ron, but the grip on my wrist became tighter and I looked around to the still emotionless Draco.

“He’ll get his turn” He said and pulled me a way to a private spot outside. Once he turned back to me, my blood started to boil.

“You selfish man. You selfish and spoiled MAN!”I screamed at him. “You just couldn’t let me hide away in silence. You just couldn’t let me be hidden”

“And you just couldn’t let me go”

“This isn’t about you! I couldn’t let anyone go!”

“Well you kept it hidden pretty well from everyone else”

“That was kind of the point”

“But you wanted to be Victoria again?” There was a certain sting in his voice that made me even angrier

“Of course I did! I wanted more than anything to come back!”

“Are you sure?”

“I’m bloody well sure!”

“Then why are you still using the accent?”

I frowned as I tried to come up with a reasonable answer. His eyes still showed no emotion and it made me feel useless. He was making me feel like he did when we were young. I turned away from him just like I used to run away from him.

“You left me”

“I left everyone” I whispered

“I was about to marry Daphne”

“Shows your loyalty”

“You showed yours fairly well when you left”

“You weren’t supposed to find out”

“Why the hell not?” His voice made me snap back around to him

“To protect you all, you asshole!”
