Jenny^
Chapter 25
Uncles and... Aunt?
Mike kept his word and gathered plenty of baby accessories. Such as, clothes, bibs, toys, a bassinet, and a car seat that looks brand new. He and a couple of pack members carry it into Archer's room, where the three of us sort everything out. We separate the clothes he's able to wear in a pile so they can be washed before he wears them.
Mike also assisted me while bathing Collin. He helped me and gave me tips to make it easier for both of us. Collin wasn't difficult at all, though. If anything, he enjoyed the water.
Besides that, Collin has been very sleepy today— which doesn't surprise me due to the events that took place this morning. We don't know how long he was sitting out there. The poor boy must have been crying for quite some time; he needs his rest.
I pick him up off of the bed as he begins to fuss, and cradle him to my chest.
"I have to work tonight," I state while staring down at the new love of my life.
"Jenny—"
"Jenny has given me plenty of time off, Mike. I feel horrible already. I need to work. I know this is an inconvenient time, but I also don't want to let her down." Mike considers what I said and nods slowly.
"I understand," he mumbles. "Lucky for you, I don't work. I can watch Collin." I sigh and reach up to rub my forehead.
I didn't think about who's going to watch Collin. Archer is busy with his Alpha-training, and asking Mike to babysit is too much. He and Jeremy have already done so much for me, and asking to keep Collin was a huge favor in itself— granted, we didn't really have a choice, but it's still a child.
"Mike, you don't have to. I can figure—"
"Nonsense!" He declares, the waving of his hand silencing me furthermore. "This is the child my son will raise with his Mate. My grandchild. I want to watch him. Please, Axel. Let me help."
I glance at Archer warily and he nods reassuringly.
"Okay," I agree, and Mike beams.
"Why don't we get ready then? We can go pick up a few necessities from the store and then drop you off at work?" I nod and he smiles while getting up, before leaving so the three of us are left alone.
I lean down to kiss at Collin's forehead repeatedly before I move over to place him in Archer's arms. He raises an eyebrow which causes me to smile.
"I have to get dressed." He nods hesitantly, glancing down at the sleeping baby. "I'll be quick."
___
After the three of us are ready, we get Collin into his new car-seat and load into the truck to head into town.
We stop at the store and grab everything we need, then head to the Café.
"Jenny's excited to meet Collin," Mike mumbles, as Archer pulls up on the side of the road. I raise an eyebrow.
"She knows?" Mike turns around and nods.
