Merlin’s POV

I wrapped my own hand in a bandage and I spotted everyone looking at me weirdly. Why are they looking at me? Arthur had been the one to hurt me....right? He said he hadn’t but if he hadn’t how had it happened?

My hand is stinging me and its adding to how bad I feel already. I’m not sure what is happening to me but I don’t like it and the others seemed to be worried too. Arthur is my husband so why am I not over there with him? Because he hurt you!

No, Arthur would never hurt me. I got to my feet and walked towards Arthur but as I reached him and he smiled at me I felt my body give way and I collapsed into his arms. “Merlin,” I heard the worry in his voice.

“Arthur....I don’t know what is going on,” I said softly as he helped me to lay down.

“We’ll figure it out,” he whispered to me as he kissed me on the cheek.

Helen rushed over and felt my head, “He is burning up. I don’t understand. I healed his wound. This is something else,” said Helen.

“What do you think it is?” asked Arthur.

“I don’t know.......” said Helen looking upset.

“Merlin have you came in contact with anything since we left Camelot....Merlin!” she screamed at me but my eyes failed and I dipped into an endless dream.

Arthur’s POV

“We have to keep going but Merlin. He is in no state to be moved or woken up,” I said to Helen as the sun begun to rise.

“We have no choice. We have to get to the village and we can try and treat Merlin there,” said Helen looking up at me.

I nodded, “Your right. Percival can you,” but I stopped as I watched him pick up Merlin gently and put him onto my horse, “Thank you.”

“My pleasure sire.”

Everyone climbed back onto their horses and I climbed behind Merlin’s lifeless body on my horse. Merlin is normally pale but right now he looked like a white sheet. I took hold of the reins in one hand and my other held onto Merlin’s lifeless hand.

“We aren’t too far away now,” said Helen as we set off and we all nodded.

We travelled in silence. As we continued towards the village I think we all began to worry more about what we were to face and Merlin being ill didn’t help. We are all worried about him too and without Merlin we are down one with magic too. I couldn’t care less about Merlin fighting right now though , I just wanted him better.

“Wait, maybe he has what Gaius had,” I stated.

“How, I healed Gaius and he is making a full recovery, Merlin isn’t. No this isn’t what Gaius has,” said Helen. I agreed and fell silent again. What could be wrong with him then?

--------------------------

We arrived quickly into the village and we all climbed off our horses. Screams of terror echoed nearby. “Helen you must tell us what we are up against!” I shouted over the noise.

“Something that will chill you to the bone, there only summoned by the most powerful witches of the old religion and they look into your very soul and destroy you piece by piece from within before they attack you. They will be the hardest thing you have ever tried to kill before. We might not even get out of here alive,” said Helen.

“Great. Anything else?” I asked her.

“They’re very fast and hard to see however once they have you in their grasp you will see them but it be too late. They’ll have you and they will start to kill you. They can be stopped. You just have to be strong and able to face what they try to destroy you with,” Helen explained.
