Josh's P.O.V.

I can see the hurt in his eyes. I don't like it. Not one bit.

But I can't afford to get even more attached than I already am.

I didn't have to call him in to see me. I could've told the hospital I didn't want him to be there. They would've forced him to leave. But they told me how he reacted when they wouldn't let him see me earlier.

I just couldn't do that to him.

So now I've just made this entire situation harder for myself.

We haven't spoken since I mentioned the Smelly guy. Now I watch as he sleeps in the uncomfortable chair next to my bed. His hand still rests on the edge of it from when he had grabbed mine before and I pulled away. The bruise stands out on his tanned cheek, looking dark and ugly. I feel bad. I ran away because I kissed him after just passing out and probably worried him sick. Especially to having him find me in the park getting raped, and then getting punched in the face.

Tyler stirs in his sleep for a moment before his eyes open and I look away.

"Morning," He grumbles.

I turn my head to speak as soon as the room door opens and a doctor comes in. Tyler sits up straight in his chair.

"Good morning, Josh." The doctor says as he looks at his clipboard.

I mutter a small 'good morning' and try to keep my eyes off of Tyler.

"I'm just gonna do a routine check this morning, see how you're doing. And then we're gonna talk about that head of yours. Do you want to-"

I cut his sentence off, already predicting what he was going to say, and answer. "He stays."

The doctor nods his head and my eyes drift over to Tyler despite my best efforts to not look at him.

He looks shocked, like he wasn't expecting me to say that. Tyler shrugs at me but doesn't say anything.

"Okay, then. Let's get started."

And the process begins.

Tyler's P.O.V.

It wasn't a long process, watching the doctor come in and do his thing. But then he had a frown on his face, and I knew that something was wrong. I look at Josh. His face is impassive of any emotion. He doesn't even look at me, only stares out of the stupid little window.

"Well, Josh, it's nothing too serious but it's going to take a little bit longer than I thought for you to heal. It looks like you have a small fracture in your ribs that we missed. It's tiny and that's why we missed it."

(a/n': sorry I have no idea what I'm talking about tbh so just excuse that plz and thank you.)

Josh still doesn't look at me, although he does shift slightly in the hospital bed.

"We can discharge you tomorrow, but you need to take it easy. If anything feels wrong, or something like that please come straight back to the hospital, okay?"

Josh nods his head and finally looks at the doctor. "Why can't I be discharged today?"

"You need to give your word for the police to fully arrest the man who-" he coughs and end his sentence awkwardly, clearly not wanting to say it.

"Okay."

"The officers should be waiting right outside. Would you like me to bring them in?"

"Yes please." Josh mumbles. The doctor nods and turns away, walking past me to the door. I watch him leave and see that he looks quite young, with blond hair and a handsome face. His nametag reads 'Dr. Dominic Sherwood'
