Brendon's POV
"Dude. Max is missing." Dallon shook me awake.
I bolted up and frowned. "She's just gone?" He nodded. "Fuck. I knew I shouldn't have introduced her to Gerard. Goddamn it." I rubbed my eyes and started to get dressed. "I'm gonna go find them.
My phone started to ring and I picked it up. "Brendon, don't even bother trying to find us." It was Max. "I'll be back in at the concert. And I swear if you even think about trying to put a tracking app on my phone I will smash it." She clicked it off and I rubbed my eyes again.
"How do you even deal with children?" I asked Dallon. "Mine obviously loves to drive me insane."
"She reminds me of you." He smirked.

Max cautiously waved at me from backstage. Our set was almost over and I gave a subtle wave back. She was wearing nothing like she normally would, I could see how much Gerard got to her. Max was dressed in all black shorts, a black shirt with the white MCR logo on it, black combat boots, and a plain black beanie. That was the weird thing. Max never wore hats. And besides, her hair was too long to fit under a beanie like that.
We finished our set and I walked backstage, giving Max a big, sweaty hug. She slipped underneath my arms, disgusted. She she made that motion her hat slipped off revealing the most not Max hair I have ever seen.
Max's deep red hair had been almost to her back. It framed her face and was always down, floating around her. It had made her grey-green eyes stand out, and look bright, and it especially made her pale face look warmer.
All of her beautiful long hair was now gone. What was left was no longer red. Max had a short silver pixie cut that made her look slightly like a vampire. Her skin what the whitest shade ever, and her eyes seemed darker and fathomless. I'm sure that was Gerard's doing. Why would I ever let him near my child?
"WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO YOU HAIR?!" I tired to keep my voice more quiet, but it came out as a yell anyway.
"First of all, no swearing." Max said calmly as if she were in charge of the situation. She actually did make me feel as if she were the parent sometimes. "I wanted to. Besides, the red wasn't my natural color anyway. Ms. Brandt made me do it. She said I looked too cold when I had my natural hair color. I just had the hair dress turn it back to normal. And cut off a couple of inches." She looked down.
"That is not a couple of inches. And how is that your real hair color." I scolded her the best I could. She did somehow gain control over the situation.
"Magic. Besides, it wasn't like we only did my hair. Unlike you, Gerard actually brought me to get a cast on my hand." She lifted her hand to show a black cast, decorated with silver sharpie.
"Look, I'm sorry, okay." She managed to make me feel guilty. "I juts wish you would ask first sometimes. It's not as easy being a parent as you think it is."
"I know how hard it is to be a parent." She said quietly. "I was a parent to all of those children for years. I was a parent for longer than you." She was whispering now. "Besides, you're barely a parent."
"What?" I looked at her with concerned eyes.
"I had parents before." She was still whispering. "I'll never have parents again. You might try, but you're never gonna be my dad, Brendon." She looked up with me. Her eyes were sad, and tear-filled. They were empty, fathomless pools of sadness.
"I can try." I whispered.
Max was yelling now. "BUT YOU WILL NEVER BE. I HAD A FAMILY. I NEVER NEEDED YOU ANYWAY. I STAYED WITH GERARD BECAUSE HE REMINDED ME OF CELESTE! I WILL NEVER NEED YOU, BRENDON! " She cried and ran. I felt a tear slip down my face and I wiped it away, not following after Max as I walked back to the bus.
