Max's POV

"Max, I have something to tell you." Brendon looked at me with a solemn expression on his face. I immediately started freaking out inwardly like, what did I do wrong? "Promise me you won't pass out, or scream, or run." He looked at me.

"Okay." I looked him in the eyes, and he shifted uncomfortably on his feet, looking back at Spencer.

"I got a call from the police department yesterday." He was speaking relatively slowly.

"I didn't do anything illegal." I blurted.

"I know you didn't ." He said calmly. "Let me finish. The police department called me yesterday. Max, I'm okay with any decision you'll make." My mind was still freaking out. "Your parents." His voice broke. "Your parents are still alive."

I looked at him, my eyes widening. I didn't believe him at first, but I could see the look of melancholy in his eyes. I opened my mouth to speak, then threw up all over the floor.

Brendon looked at me, then at the floor. He took a deep breath. "Okay. Better reaction then I expected. Okay." It seemed like he was ready for the world to end. "You have a darned soft stomach."

I whispered. "I'll clean it up." Before Brendon could protest I was already halfway done with the mess.

"How are you feeling?" Brendon rubbed my back.

I bit my lip, my eyes watering. I burst into tears, latching onto Brendon. "I want to stay with you." I cried.

We stood like that for a couple of minutes, until my tears were mixing with hers. "I want you to think about it, Okay?"

"I don't want to think about it."  She started to scream.

"Shh. You promised you wouldn't scream. And I already told you, I'm okay with any decision you make."

"I want to stay, Brendon. I don't care."

"I'll let you meet them first."

"Are you trying to get rid of me?"

"You literally just ran because you missed them. I don't want you to be unhappy forever because of emotions. Now get some sleep." He grinned. "That's my dad voice."

"No." I climbed into my bunk. "That's my defiant teenager voice. And besides, you seem to forget I have insomnia."

"Try to sleep, okay? We'll talk later."

"I don't want to leave."

"We'll talk later."

"I love you."

"I love you too. Now go to sleep."
