I don't know how long I've been wandering the halls. But when I turn the corner, I see Lilly. I call out to her, and she whirls around. When she sees me, her eyes immediately fill with tears and she
sprint towards me."Oh my god," she sobs into my shirt. "I thought you were dead!"
"Oh Lilly," I say. I can't help but giggle. "You know that's impossible. I can't die, remember?" She only sobs harder and I shush her, rubbing the back of her head.
"Just so you know," she says, wiping tears and pulling away. "I nearly killed the teacher. There's a sub in there cuz he had to go to the nurse." I shake my head, but I had expected nothing less from her. I look past her to see Ryu waiting patiently for his turn. Just as I'm about to tap her, she steps out of the way. "I know he's waiting."
"Thanks," I say, right before I'm engulfed in his arms. I hug him back, taking bunches of his shirt in my hands.
"I thought you were dead," he says softly into my hair, his voice cracking just a bit. That's the same thing Lilly said, I think as I comfort him. So I tell him the same thing I told her. "I know, I know. But still."
"Shhhhh," I say into his collar bone. Then I pull away. "What the hell kind of school is this?! This is the kind of stuff you'd find in a movie or something. Are we being filmed? Am I in a movie without a script." He chuckles, shaking his head.
"There are no cameras here that aren't used for security purposes, babe," he informs me. He wraps his arm around my waist and gently pushes me back into the classroom, where I find the teacher gaping at me with his mouth wide open.
"You'll keep your promise, right?" I smile at him, tilting my head to the side just a tiny bit. His face turns red with anger and he slams whatever he has in his hand down onto the table. He storms up to me and begins to take my shirt up in his hands when, in an instant, my hand is squeezing his throat and I have him pressed up against the wall. "If you want to keep your hand, I'd suggest you not try to put your hands on me again. Got it?" He doesn't answer, so I slam him against the wall a little harder, causing it to crack. I don't have to wait for him to answer to know that he gets the idea. I let go and watch as he collapses to the ground, holding his throat and gasping for air.
I stalk back to my seat, ignoring all the eyes that are burning holes into my head. After the little bit of time I had out in the hallways, I decide it's time for another nap.
