she began to tell me about Jordan, a sweet smile playing on her lips as she spoke highly of him.
"Jordan seemed to always be able to look at the positive side of things. i was always shocked, he seemed to know what to say or what quotes to recite. i didn't know how he did it but he seemed to be able to read me like an open book. he loved to play the guitar, like it had a soul, he often sang to his little snip bits, sometimes dragging me into it." she said laughing a little before taking a sip
"Here is a picture of him, me and Adele are standing behind him. he tempted our photographer to take a picture like me and Adele were stalking him. honestly you should have seen his face. Jordan was the one who made me realize to look at the world a whole different way. honestly, he had this air or energy around him that made you want to laugh and sass. if that makes any sense." she said handing me a picture.
i took it gently knowing it was something of Carole's past. she nodded and i looked at it, just like she said i instantly noticed her and Adele in the back ground. Carole was in her artistic look while Adele in her librarian look. the boy in front was grinning and looked like he was trying not to laugh. his eyes were an electric vibrant color of blue. his hair was a brown but leaned more to dirty blond. his square jaw and dark eye brows and dark brown eyes were up in a laugh. he had an athletic build to him that screamed Runner, or Soccer player.
i looked back at Carole to see her grinning, seeming to reliving the memory of that day. i handed it back to her, feeling slightly jealous. she grinned looking at it before stuffing it in her phone case. she went on talking about Jordan and after the next five minutes i was tired of hearing Jordan this and Jordan that. the only question i had was how he died, i knew he drowned but why. the guy seemed so happy and care free guy.
"How did Jordan die?" i asked, blurting it out before regretting it.
"I already told you, he drowned." she said, her enthusiasm dying.
"But why, he sounds like such a happy guy." i said.
"We all have our bad days, Jordan just had many of them. i remember that some nights he would call me crying saying that he hated his life." she said quietly.
i stopped talking, i froze. he had committed suicide. she didn't have to say it, i knew it was all there, written over her face. she looked down and i looked down at my drink. it seemed to grow tasteless. i wished i hadn't brought it up, she was enjoying telling me all about the guy she used to love and now i screwed it.
"I am sorry, i didn't mean to pry." i said quietly.
"Don't worry, we all saw it coming, it was only a matter of time before he broke and the world threw him upside down." she said quietly.
there was an awkward silence that followed. i didn't know what to say, i had already apologized but it didn't seem to matter. i changed the topic with a cough.
"So, would you like to see our progress? i think we are almost don." i said pulling out the camera.
she looked up and nodded, i told her about editing a few useless parts. i didn't however tell her i saved all the parts which showed our raw emotions, when we were truly happiest.
"I think we should have Sebastian and Adele be in our video too." she added.
"Yeah, Sebastian is my neighbor so i could ask him tomorrow if you could ask Adele." i suggested happily.
she nodded giving me her smile. after we watched the videos so far she left, telling me she better get home. i stayed in my seat thinking about Jordan and who he was to her. i couldn't help feeling jealous of the guy who had captured the rose on the wall. i stood after and walked home. once i got there i switched on the computer and began putting all the scenes together, i knew my parents were home by the laughing down stairs. for a moment i wanted to show them the videos but i decided i should have Carole's consent first.
my frown faded to see that i had recorded the entire talk about Jordan, i watched it paying more attention to Carole. watching her face, watching how she would get this glint in her eyes that proved how much she had loved him.
the next day was Sunday, i asked Sebastian and Adele to meet us at the boulder. they were there happily and once Carole had said they would become famous because of it Adele was all in. Carole decided to film this time and she followed us and comented on what we were doing. we ended up walking around town showing off our favoirte spots and historical shops.
Carole had been quieter than usual and this didn't go unnoticed. Adele sent me a curious glance a couple of times and i had to shruj it off. Sebastian pulled Adele away and Carole followed making romantic remarks.
"So are you two going out?" she asked.
"No, what are you talking about Carole?" Adele said laughing.
Sebastian looked at her, hurt flashing through his eyes before he masked it again.
"Hey Seb, you hurt her i will cut your balls off with safety scissors." Carole teased viciously.
he rolled his eyes but finally nodded. i laughed and Carole turned to face me, chasing me with the camera.
"What about you pretzel boy? where is your girlfriend?" she asked laughing.
my mind raced with questions, who did i like, why did i all of a sudden care. i stopped once Carole stopped as she turned to face the others. i turned back and started at them, who were my friends? Justin and Vivi'g group loved me but i had kinda established my own group here with the three other crazy people.
i smiled to myself seeing that i was happy with them, sure i loved having our debates with Vivi but this seemed more real. i ran back to them laughing and calling them nick names, we filmed the rest of the day even through lunch and dinner. the people around us would either glare at us or laugh with us, but other than that it all went smooth.
