Chapter 13: (Uma)

Having her answers she ran along the hall, barely stopping to catch her breath. Walking in heels is hard, running in them is harder. Taking a deep breath in, she ran the rest of the route that the man had told her.

Uma tried not to think about him and how gorgeous she thought he was, but for some reason she couldn’t stop thinking about him. The way he was so helpless on the floor made her smile, until she came face to face with a wall. Tumbling to the floor she knew she reached her destination, and shifting her focus from Dr Dreamy- to finding the door to find her brother.

She noticed that the walls around the door were all triangles in one massive triangle, remembering some of the math lesson that she hadn’t spent texting- she realised that all she had to do was find the middle, where all the angles connect. A second passed- at most- and Uma was in another room, this one was different- it was dark and she noticed a strange humming of a computer.

‘’Barrett? Philly? Cam?’’ She didn’t have time to waste and quickly started rummaging through the room. Finding nothing in the open quarter of the room, Uma followed the strange humming through a series of metal boxes, papers, wires and cables.  When the noise started getting louder, Uma felt she had to shout just to hear her thoughts. Where are you guys??

‘’Anyone here?’’ She wanted to seem in control as always but her voice gave away her fear and loneliness.

The noise was louder now, and she prayed to find Barrett. The amount of times she had said something nasty to him could not compare to the scale of fear and incompleteness she felt without him.

‘’Barrett?!’’ She called out, noticing a figure in a particularly dark corner, ‘’Philippa? Cameron?’’ she hollered but the figure didn’t move. She came closer, still shouting the names of her brother and new acquaintances- but no movement from the figure. Until, suddenly, she stumbled on something, and fell into a hole that appeared from nowhere.

Just as the figure turned around.

He trapped her inside the chamber- She will not escape this time!- he was able to see all of Barrett’s memories. The happy and sad moments always included Uma, from that he knew of her photographic memory and her incredibly high IQ. She is as stubborn, as she is beautiful.

He knew what the chances were of her escape, but decided to focus on her brother instead. Their little friends were not a worry to him as it was impossible for them to make anything of themselves in the future- The boy’s parents never get along and the girl doesn’t have any! Oh, how sad! Not!

He had actually made the chamber for Barrett in case he turned out to be the way a few of his ancestors did. But it started to become clearer and clearer to Dr Vortex that the genes split and one twin got the brains the other the superior sense.

A few monitors switched on at the sound of movement in the chamber, and it was now that he had to keep watch and see the great Superior Sense kick into action. He watched her for hours forgetting about everything else in the world.

He was too blinded by her beauty to see her fumble with the main sensor in the middle of the room and didn’t notice that the same recorded footage had been on the monitor for at least three hours.

If she figured out how to do that- she must have escaped by now- Again.
