My Friends Know Me Best

Chapter:18

I couldn't wait until the bell rang. Kade said he'd only come by jet as long as I went to go get him. Granpa agreed that I could miss the last two classes since they were classes I knew we weren't doing anything in.

All my core classes are the morning classes except for ag. That was right after lunch. My boss told me he didn't need me this afternoon because he had more than enough help but tomorrow I'd have to work all day to get a half day on Saturday. I ran to my truck after ag class and hopped in.

I pulled out of the parking lot going straight to the airport. Once there I got onto the jet and it took off. I got my laptop out and started working on an essay due Monday.

I did my research quickly and wrote it out making sure to use quotations where needed. Once the jet landed I was just finishing it up. I saved it and unbuckled.

I stepped off and watched for him. He came onto the black top and walked to the jet. I went down the steps and right up to him. He caught me when I jumped into his arms.

"The guys wanted to see you so badly. But they did send your birthday gifts early." He said still holding onto me. "Let me guess their at the house." I said. "Hidden except for this." He pulled out a new camo hoodie. "This year we all pitched in to buy this. I'll give you my present later." He said as we walked to the jet.

We got in and sat down across from each other. "So I'm not going to be working tonight. But I will be all day tomorrow. Then Friday is a half day and Saturday is too I'm afraid." I told him.

"If only I could go to work with you." He said. "I don't know my boss might need the extra help tomorrow, Friday and Saturday. He's got his entire family over and doesn't have time to work."

"Sounds like he may need help." "There's only one thing. You still know how to ride a horse right?" I asked. "Chad and I went riding last weekend to check fence."

"I'm on herd duty this break. Meaning me and two other guys are going to be out there. Hopefully if you are allowed you can be out there with me and Victor." I told him. "So who is Victor?" He asked.

"A senior I work with. He doesn't pull anything on me but you might find more bout Reese." I replied. "So he's someone that dislikes him also?"

"More like got his girl taken away by him. He almost lost her when Bo kidnapped her and almost killed her. Victor beat the crap out of him before he moved to Childress." I told him.

"So how long do you think he was laying low in our town?" "Could have been months or weeks." I replied. "How's school?" He asked. "Good. I wish I wasn't exactly in Houston but more outside of the city. How's school there?" I asked.

"Lonely without you." He said. "I'm going to be starting school with you guys in August of next year, but I'm going to have to stay the summer with my grandparents. I joined the baseball team as a manager so you better go to state this coming season." I told him.

"Um." I stood up and went over to his chair. I sat down on his lap and his arms went around me. He kissed my cheek. "Would you?" He put his head on my shoulder.

"Kade." He looked at me. "Would you be my girlfriend?" He asked before kissing me. "That would keep more guys off me even if they saw you." I told him.

"The district also called Monday off. How bout I bring you lunch and pick you up from school?" He asked. "That would get them off my back." I told him.

He kissed me as he ran his hands down my back. "So I take it you are my girl?" "Definitely. You know I've always been by your side." I told him. He kissed my cheek then trailed them down my neck.
