It's A Date

Erik and I were supposed to meet up any minute now. I was so nervous I could barely stand it. I looked in the bathroom mirror one more time before going to his locker. I looked fine but I kept second guessing myself. I fixed my hair yet again and walked over to his locker.

"Ah, Christine. Ready?" Erik asked while grabbing his bag before shutting his locker. He shut his locker and gave me a hug.

"Yeah." I replied while in his embrace. He had a warm, musky scent that I enjoyed. His honey blonde shoulder length hair looked like Raoul's but it looked like he didn't style it at all unlike Raoul. The unkept waves in his hair made him look incredibly handsome. His gold eyes studied me before we started to walk down the now empty hall. As we walked our hands kept bumping into each other, waiting to intertwine. We walked out the front doors of the school. The cool fall breeze welcomed us as the doors opened. Erik opened the door for me in true gentlemanly fashion. We continued to walk quietly. The only sounds were the passing traffic and the sound of the leaves crunching as we walked on them. Every so often I would look over at Erik. He looked so content being with me. That made me so happy. I didn't want to take this wonderful moment for granted. The silence was something that I appreciated. I could tell that we were both too nervous to say anything. We arrived at a local burger joint.

"This place has the best burgers around." Erik remarked as he held the door open for me. As we walked in Erik waved to someone and we took a seat.

The boy walked over. "Erik it's nice to see you again. I guess you couldn't get enough of me."

Erik laughed. "I guess you're right, Nadir. But it was you who came to visit last night. We'll have two of the special and two cokes please."

Nadir wrote that down. "And who's this?"

"Oh, right. This is my friend Christine." Erik answered.

Nadir smirked and walked away. Did he know something that I didn't? The overwhelming smell of grease was somewhat comforting. The place looked like a fifties diner with the red chairs and the vintage ads on the wall.
"You never told me your back story." I stated casually looking into his gold eyes.

"Are you sure you want to know?" Erik asked returning the gaze. I nodded. He looked down and started to speak. I could see Nadir look sad out of the corner of my eye.

"Well..." Erik started. "When I was born I was born with this deformed scar on my face. My mother didn't like that so she gave me away. I had no father. I lived in various foster homes until I moved out- er, ran away last year. I got a job, and an apartment. That's pretty much it I guess." Erik almost looked like he was about to cry, but he didn't.

"I'm so sorry..."

"Don't be." Erik interrupted. "You have no need. If I'm fine about it then so should you be." Erik looked like he was not liking the pity. I wondered why.

"Well where do you work?" I asked. I watched Nadir come over with the food. He put down our food in front of us.

Erik took a bite of his burger. "Nowhere special." He answered after he finished his bite.

Erik's POV
Christine was asking so much about me. I wanted to ask her some questions. I knew a lot about her already but she didn't know that.

"What do you do in your free time?" I asked.

Christine put her burger down. The burger looked huge in her hands. "I do ballet. And I read, you?"

Why does she want to know so much about me? "I play the piano, write music. That's pretty much it."

"Wow. Write music. And I know you've mentioned before that you used to wear a mask. Do you wear it at work?" Christine seemed astonished that I wrote music.
