Christine's POV
I awoke to the sound of my alarm happily. Today meant school and school meant seeing Erik. I felt as if I had some new found confidence once I accepted the fact that I liked Erik. I jumped out of bed and hopped into the shower. Once I was out I changed and put on makeup while my hair dried. Once it dried I pinned two sections at the front back. I didn't know why I wanted to do that other than to impress Erik but he'd still call me pretty even if I wore a paper bag. I walked over into the kitchen and grabbed some breakfast while looking at the ballet clock. The hour hand was at first position and the minute hand was at third. It was 7:50. We had to go soon and Meg was still not ready. She's gonna make me late one of these days.Erik's POV
My alarm went off. Instead of me being snug in my bed I was sitting at the table. Last nights events rolled in my mind and I smiled. I started to think about the events more and more until the sound of my alarm going off again interrupted my thoughts. I looked at the time. I had 15 minutes before I had to go. I shoved my books into my bag before running into my room to grab clothes. I then dashed to the washroom to quickly shower. I got out and changed. I quickly combed my hair and threw my dirty clothes in the laundry basket as I ran to the table luckily they didn't miss the basket and I put my bag over my shoulder and checked the time. I had five minutes left. I made sure that my mask was in my bag. It was. I then grabbed some dry cereal and put it in a ziplock bag before dashing out the door. I ate the cereal while running through the streets filled with morning traffic. I arrived at school in record time finishing my breakfast before entering my first class. It was physics. I sat down in the back taking out my books. As I finished the last question of my homework for the class my phone beeped. I put it on silent and checked the text before the bell rang. It was from Christine.
Morning Erik! Do you want to hang out again this lunch? I'll tell people I have plans so we can be uninterrupted.
I completely forgot to bring a lunch. I'll have to buy one.
Sure! Meet me at my locker? I have to buy a lunch today. I texted back.
Sure! See you then! I smiled at Christine's text.
The teacher slammed his hand on the desk. "The bell has rung. Put away your phones."
I slipped my phone into my pocket. I aimlessly wrote notes as the teacher discussed our first unit. My notes were messy with scattered graphs around the pages. I noticed how my hand indeed looked like it was floating across the page as Christine remarked. I noticed how my name was written. It was almost like a signature. The E in Erik was printed but the rest was cursive writing. It was the same with the D in Destler.
I looked up at the board. I missed some notes. I quickly wrote them down and continued to daydream. The bell rang. It was time for English. I packed my things up and speed walked to the class. I had to run down the stairs. I got there out of breath and took a seat. I grabbed my books. I noticed Raoul walk in. He was in my class? I quietly scoffed as he sat down. I grabbed a piece of paper and wrote 'you suck' on it. I balled it up and threw it at the back of his head. Raoul grabbed the paper, unfolded it, an read it. He looked around. He didn't notice me. Thank god. I snickered before turning back to my English notes. The teacher came in and handed us all a book. It was an opera called "Hannibal." We had to read one theatre piece a year. I was excited when the rest of the class groaned. I've always wanted to write an opera. I'd call it "Don Juan Triumphant."
"We will read up to act 1 scene 3 by next Monday." Mr. André instructed. Now who would like to read first?" No one raised a hand. "Not everyone at once." He joked. No one laughed. "OK, how about you Monsieur De Chany?" I couldn't believe that Raoul was speaking. I hoped that he would fail. Luckily he did. He wasn't able to read through the paragraph without messing up a few times. "Thank you. How about Miss Graham?"
After she spoke we begun to write notes. There were far too many notes for my taste. The teacher soon stopped scribbling notes on the board. "Let's read another paragraph shall we? Hmm. Erik, how about you?" The whole class looked at me. I got up hesitantly. I needed to not mess up. I started to read. I read beautifully. It was nice enough that the teacher commented on it. I noticed Raoul scoff as he did. I smiled inside. Raoul was a jealous little prick. Pardon my language but it's true. He thinks he's all that and a bag of chips but he's not. He's just a nuisance in my grand plan. If he was in my opera he'd die in the first two minutes. I smiled at the thought of him dying. Whoops. I could hear Christine in my head scolding me. Erik! Stop that! I could hear her say. I wish Raoul could transfer schools. If he transferred to Nadir's he'd be dead. I needed to focus. If I get behind I'm in trouble. My mind switched from killing Raoul to Christine. Everything about her is perfect. She's a literal goddess and I'm a demon from hell compared to her. I looked at the clock. There was five minutes left. The class could tell with their voices getting louder. The teacher tried to quiet them but gave up. I packed up my things and got up. I snuck out of the room unnoticed before the bell rang and made my way to choir. Raoul caught up to me while I waited for the bell to ring.
