We walked through the woods for what seemed like forever, thorns ripping my already-ripped jeans, leaves getting stuck in my hair, and nature basically hating me. When we finally found our way out of the forest, Jason and I were so messed up we were barely recognizable.

We emerged into a large village on the edge of the forest. A group of toddlers who were playing with marbles saw us and ran away crying. I hadn't realized we looked that bad.

Jason bent down and touched the sand, and I did the same. It felt exactly the same as normal sand, like on the beach back in Camp Half-Blood. A lump formed in my stomach. Camp. Just thinking about it made me want to sit there and cry. But I didn't, as I knew I'd be deceiving my very dear Wattpad readers if I got too emotional too quickly.

Jason spoke for the first time since we'd jumped from the tree we'd landed on. "This place looks very real. The sand  and leaves and trees definitely feel the same, so we're hopefully still in the same world. But the problem is, where are the others?"

Guilt overwhelmed me as I realized I hadn't even thought about our friends. I was only thinking about Jason and my safety. Now that was the only thing I could think of. Did they teleport in the same whereabouts as us? Were they even in the same era? My guilt turned into confusion, then into anger, then into panic. I suddenly felt dizzy and grabbed onto Jason's hand to steady myself. Jason looked at me in concern. "Piper! Are you all right?"

I definitely didn't feel all right, but I nodded. I forced myself to stand straight, and cleared my thoughts. "Okay. Where are we?" I asked Jason.
"Let's ask someone, if they even speak the same language as us." Jason replied. So we marched to the nearest human, a tall 16-year old boy with brown hair and stormy grey eyes like Annabeth's.
"Hi," Jason told the boy, which I found incredibly brave. I wouldn't have found the courage to speak. "We'd like to know where we are. Are we still in America?" He continued.
The boy frowned. "Dude, what year are you in? America over a hundred years ago! This is Panem." He smirked and walked away.
I looked in shock at Jason. "Panem?" I managed to say. As far as I knew, Panem wasn't a country.
Jason was as confused as I was. "Piper, I think I know where we are." He replied.
My expression brightened. "Jason, really? Where are we?"
  "On the verge of insanity."
