The ticking of the clock was the only thing he hears. The room had gone really silent since Kris left on a mission by Elena's orders. The Knights of Light had snuck inside the Tower successfully, but the Goddess' magic would take hours to cure Rudy's blindness. With his friend out on a mission, the brunet knight was left to sit in his bed and wait out the magic.

Unlike normal, the blindness had invited a stronger voice for his recovering fragment. The homicidal voices scream the darkest secrets of his heart. He could try and vanquish them with his will power; but right now, he chose to listen. He heard how the voices scream about his uselessness and failure to protect. They cried how many lives were lost because of him and his incompetence.

Rudy then chuckled. His hands slowly flattened against his face. "Well, it wasn't that long since I discovered about the fragment." He straightened his back and fell to the mattress of his bed. "Becoming the Reserved Commander of the Knights of Terra was quite far from where I used to be." He remained silent for a while before whispering. "I don't like this feeling. I need something to keep me busy."

However, he did not move. There was nothing to do in his humble home. It was all too quiet for someone used to be out and about either frolicking with a friend or fighting against evil. He took deep breaths, inevitably taking over his fragment more and more. The voices were starting to diminish again, only for it to whisper about other hideous things.

This time, it was about Kris again: their supposed competition as Knights- and difference of their status in life. They chanted about how Kris' family take pride in him, while Rudy's parents had to hide him for being different and attractive of monsters to their little town. They talked about the joy of living a boring life rather than crawling through one infested by hatred and constant danger. Kris had always been a respected personality in Terra, while he was just recognized as a Knight of Light. Nothing more.

Maybe he should forsake Kris for glory. He will never be the same if the Darkness claims him. A corrupted Knight will never have the Throne. Drive him into corruption. Corrupt. Corrupt. Corrupt.

"Stupid voices." Rudy got up from his bed. "A Knight who drives someone to the Darkness is not of Light at all. I would be less worthy of the Throne if I let him stray when he depends on me."

He started walking, visualizing the room from memory. It was not accurate, but it was good enough for him not to run into anything. He opened the door and walked along the hallway as if he could see. He reached out to feel the plates and glasses; he wanted to fetch a glass of water. He managed to get one and fill it with water from a jar. He only took a sip before standing quietly.

Rudy laughed before taking a deep breath. "This is scary. Being enveloped in darkness without anyone else." He took another drink.

"You should avoid thinking out loud if I were you."

The brunet choked on the water before turning to the source of the sound. "Kris? You're back?"

"I was gone for hours, but I guess you can't tell." Kris seemed to flick a switch on. "Did you sleep long?"

"I don't know. I must have fallen asleep without me knowing." The brunet sighed. "The fragment had gone really loud whether I sleep or not today. It was not like this before."

Footsteps went closer to the blind man, followed by the clinking of ceramics and silverware. "Aren't you hungry yet? It's almost midnight, and you hadn't had supper." A hand took the glass off of Rudy's hold. "How did you get here? Can you find your way to a chair?"

"I'll find a seat." Rudy walked cautiously, a hand reached out. He found the table and a seat he could use. He sat down and smelled the cooked meat on the table. However, it was taken away as if being transferred somewhere. Rudy just waited for it to come back, and for another seat to scoot. "You're taking care of me too much, don't you think?"

"It also means I don't have to stay at home and help out with the party." The noble chuckled; silverware, glasses, and ceramics were placed against wood. "The party's tomorrow night. You should get well tomorrow morning or else it's the first time you'll miss it."

The brunet noticed the difference in his tone. "You sound relieved. Did you finally convince your mother you're not going to marry a girl you just met at a party?"

"One way or another, yes." Kris sighed; ceramics were clinking with the silverware. "I also managed to humiliate myself so can we not talk about that?" Ceramics clinked more- as if they were being moved. The smell of the meat grew closer to Rudy's nose. "I already sliced the steak. You can use the fork properly, can you not?"

Rudy groped the tableto take the fork, and tried to take up a piece- only to miss every time. Hestarted laughing, soon joined by his friend. "I think I need a little morehelp here."
