The blood was pounding in my veins. My heart burned with the sting of betrayal. She had said, 'I love you Angelo.' She had lied to me.

Madison was not different. She was still the same girl who thought everyone was put on earth for her own amusement games.

I let myself into the Kitchen that night. Mama had been blowing up my phone and I eventually put it off. I searched frantically among the liquor and I grabbed a bottle of Jack Daniels, yanked off the top and took the first hard swig of alcohol in my life. It burned all the way down bringing tears to my eye. In frustration I smashed it against the wall. It shattered into a million pieces. Like my heart.

"What's got you in such a mood Angelo?" Gino asked calmly from behind me in the shadows.

I sank hopelessly into a chair and he approached me. "I have fallen for a girl who doesn't love me." Dio, what had I done? I saw the way that boy- Jasper - was holding her, and the way she had looked at him. As though all the secrets of the world were in them. I remembered what Mama had told me, there was no greater tragedy for a Tallerico than giving their heart to somebody who did not love them. Foolishly I had done the same.

Shock and surprise colored Gino's tone. "What the hell are you talking about? That's crazy talk Angelo! I'm sure Madison...”

"No," I cut him off grimly, "I don't think Madison ever really loved me."

"And what brought this on?' Gino wanted to know. He hooked his foot around a chair and dragged it around to face me.

"Because I saw her with someone else."

"Another guy?" I nodded, "And what were they doing?"
