iMessage: Liam <3: it's a surprise (;
I take anther bite of my sandwich. Christmas is practically over at my house. It never lasts all day like a 'normal' family. Mom's never here, and she doesn't think that should change because its Christmas. Dad always gets me something nice, but since we're the only ones who exchange gifts, it's over in ten minutes.
I bounce up the stairs and slip into a lacy long-sleeve shirt, dark blue skinny jeans, and my Sperrys. I put on a few wipes of mascara and fix my hair into loose curls with my curling wand. I slide the wrapped box off my bed and skip into the hallway.
By the time I'm finished, the doorbell rings and I open it up and see Liam standing there, looking all cute in his blazer.
"Bye, Daddy!" I yell up the stairs.
"Have fun!" He calls after me.
"You look beautiful." Liam smiles and pulls me into a hug.
I blush. "Thank you. You don't look too bad yourself." I grin and kiss his cheek.
We lock hands and he walks me to his car. We drive for about ten or fifteen minutes and Liam hasn't let go of my hand the whole ride. Whenever I look over to him, he has a pleased look plastered across his face.
The car comes to a stop ad I can't help but smile ear to ear. Liam has brought me to the city to see the Christmas light show they do every year. My dad brought me when I was nine, and I've wanted to see another ever since.
"Ahh! Thank you, Liam! Lets go!" I squeal.
I pull him out of the car and we find a spot on the curb to sit on. I lean my head on his shoulder and enjoy the lights flashing on and off, lighting up the city as they dance to the holiday music being blasted over a large set of stereos.
Sadly, it ends and we stumble up under a street light. I hand him the box and he strips it of the paper. He opens it and holds up a small golden key. I bring up my arm to show him a heart shaped lock dangling from my wrist. He smiles and hooks it to his car keys.
"Thank you."
"You have the key to my heart now." I tell him. "So don't loose it." I say quietly while looking at the ground.
He brings my chin up and softly kisses me. "I would never."
Now it's my turn. I open the box he gives me and gasp at what's inside.
"Liam, it's beautiful!" I can't take my eyes off the necklace. It's a silver infinity sign lined in diamonds.
"Here, let me." He grabs it out from the box and I pull my hair to the side. Once it's clipped around my neck, I can't seem to stop myself from running my fingers along the charm.
"It symbolizes love. That there's no end to it." He hugs me from behind. "Merry Christmas."
I turn myself around to face him. "Merry Christmas, Liam."
We kiss again. This time longer, and more passionate.
----
Liam walks me up to my porch and stops me from turning the handle to my front door. I give him a confused look.
"I need to talk to you about something, Katie." Liam runs his hand through his hair.
"Okay. Is everything alright?" I let my hand fall from the doorknob.
"Yeah. It's just. You know how I was on the X Factor, with One Direction?"
I nod.
"Well, even though we didn't win, we're being signed to a record deal by Simon Cowell." His brown eyes won't meet mine. "And we start up again next week."
"So, you'll be gone by New Years." I fiddle with the necklace.
"Yeah." He mutters. "I can't pass this up, Katie."
"I know. As much as I'd hate to see you go, I'm not going to stand in your way." I choke, holding back tears. "I'll go through the motions with you, by your side or a thousand miles away." I try to laugh.
"Thanks for understanding."
I look away from him.
"Hey, we still have six days."
He's still not getting my attention.
"I'll be back for your birthday. That's a promise."
I still don't respond. I'm not mad at him, I just don't want him gone. I don't know how to react.
"Merry Christmas, Katie." He sighs and backs away.
I want to talk to him but words can't seem to come out of my mouth.
What a great way to end an amazing night.
