"That was too expensive, Liam." I whine as we head back to the car. I never like him spending a lot of money on me. Liam brought me to this really fancy, really expensive restaurant in town.
"I don't get a lot of chances to spoil you anymore, and I wanted to do something special." He smiles.
"For what occasion?" I lift an eyebrow.
"Just because I love you." I can see his cheeks turn light pink, even through the dark.
"Well, I love you too. And thank you." I quickly peck him on the lips.
"Wait," he hooks an arm around my waist and pulls me back to him, "I wasn't done yet."
I giggle and then Liam brings his lips to mine once more and keeps then there for a few seconds.
---
"What are you thinking about?" Liam places his hand over mine on the console.
"Georgia and James."
"What for?" He glances from me to the road.
"We've been out longer than we said and I'm starting to worry."
"I'm just hoping they haven't burned down the flat." He jokes.
"Liam!" I playfully slap his arm.
"James is almost 16, he can keep track of a 10 year old for a couple extra hours." He assures me.
If you couldn't already tell, Liam has loosened up a lot ever since the wedding. He was so stressed out over that, that I don't think he has any sense of stress left.
We park the car and walk up the driveway hand-in-hand. We enter the house as quietly as we can in case they're both sleeping.
"I'm gonna head upstairs." Liam yawns and I nod, heading to the living room to go turn off whatever light that was shining.
I walk in a find James and Darcy on top of each other, lips connected.
"James William Payne," I startle both of them. "This does not look like watching a movie." I place my hands on my hips.
"We're just waiting for Darcy's mum to come pick her up!" James defends.
Almost as if on cue, Darcy's phone lights up with a text that I assume is from Caitlyn.
"Goodnight, Darcy." I nod at her.
She nervously smiles at me before leaving.
"Where's Georgia?" I raise my eyebrows.
"Relax, she's upstairs sleeping." He puts his hands up in defense.
"Okay, okay.." I trail off, "So someone's got a girlfriend, huh?"
"What? Darcy's my best friend! I would never date her, I promise." James tries to deny.
"Never say never." I joke.
"Mum!" He groans.
"What? That's how this started." I refer to our family. "Plus you've got your dad's looks, I don't blame her for wanting to kiss you."
"I look nothing like Dad. I don't even know how you find him attractive." He makes a face.
"Then how do you think you got here?" I raise my eyebrows at him.
"I'm gonna stop talking now." James shakes his head and turns to go upstairs.
I follow him up the staircase and stop at his door. "Night, baby." I tease and kiss his forehead.
"Bye, Mum." He escapes my grasp and shuts his door.
I walk into the master bedroom and find Liam stretched out across the bed, flipping through the channels on the tv. He's changed into sweatpants that hang low on his hips, obviously trying to be a tease.
"Put a shirt on please." I laugh and kick my shoes off.
"Why?" He tries to play innocent.
"You're trying too hard. You're not 20 anymore, Payno." I pat his chest.
"Ow. Rejection hurts." He jokes.
"Awh, it's okay. I still love you." I coo and kiss his cheek.
"Did you check up on James?"
"I think he's growing up, Liam." I pout and flop down next to him on the bed.
"What?" He props himself up on his elbow and look down at me.
"I just caught him kissing Darcy on our couch."
"Why does that sound familiar?" Liam smirks before leaning down and kissing me.
"Familiar? I don't remember anything similar to that." I joke.
"I think I should refresh your memory then." He smirks before grabbing my waist and pulling me on top of him. "You were laying on me like this."
I nod, following along.
"You were being all sweet and caring about how I got my ass kicked, and then I got lost in those pretty brown eyes." He tucks a loose strand of hair behind my ear.
I blush at his compliment before he continues.
"And then, this wave of courage hit me. I just went for it, I kissed you." Liam softly presses his lips to mine, keeping them there for a few seconds.
"The best risk I ever took." He smiles before connecting our lips again.
