I scroll through my phone, waiting for the flight boarding to be called. I hear 3 loud noises in the distance, followed by multiple shrieks. A siren goes off and I turn my head to see what's going on. I see everyone running and I decide to join them.
"Katie Hunter!"
I stop dead in my tracks. I turn around and see someone in all dark clothing quickly walking towards me.
"You've been rejecting me for years," I back away while the person keeps coming, "I don't want that to happen anymore."
He pulls something out from behind his back, a pistol. I sprint as fast as I can in the opposite direction.
2 gunshots sound and I fall to the floor. As soon as I hit the ground everything goes black.
My eyes slowly flicker open. It was all just another dream. My eyes adjust to the light and I'm in an unfamiliar place. I look around at my surroundings and I have no idea how I've gotten here. Am I in a hospital bed?
Beside me, Liam is peacefully asleep, resting his head on the edge of the bed. I smile and run my fingers through his hair.
He's cheating on you. I remember and jerk my hand away.
I'm utterly confused at the moment. I move the sheets out of my way and stand up. There's instant pain in my knee and it collapses underneath me. Seconds later, pain appears at my ribcage. "Shit." I mumble.
"Katie, you shouldn't be walking." Liam rushes to my side, lifting me up and placing me back down on the bed.
"I don't need your help." My voice is dry from not speaking for awhile.
He wraps his arms around me in a tight hug, ignoring what I just said. "You had me so worried."
"Just because I don't remember how or why I'm here, doesn't mean I don't remember what happened yesterday." I gently push him away.
"Yesterday? You've been out cold for almost a week."
"Wait, what?" I shake my head, not believing him.
"You've been a victim of an airport shooting.." Liam tells me, almost as if he's ashamed to say so.
I give him a scared yet shocked look, my jaw hanging open. How is it possible for someone to get by with a gun in an airport?
"They haven't determined the shooter, but they're doing the best they can." He crosses his arms.
"I-I've been s-shot?" I stutter.
"Twice.."
I bring my hand up to my mouth and look down. Liam unnoticeably sits down on the side of the bed, kisses my forehead, and wraps his arms around me yet again.
"Why don't you understand!" I weakly pry his arms off me. Liam flinches at my sudden outburst. "You're not the one to be there for me anymore! You cheated on me and we broke up!"
He seems offended and slowly stands up. "I wish that you would try and understand me." I have no idea what he means by that. His eyes flash to mine before he walks out of the room.
I lay here, trying to process the information I was just given. I've been shot with a real gun, that has real bullets, that has given me real injuries. I slowly peel the covers from my body that reveal my right knee and my torso bandaged up. I put my head in my hands. This is reality.
A short knock sounds at my door and Louis quickly slides in after.
"I'm not really in the mood to talk-"
