Dark-skinned POC Kpop stans

Asia has some really messed up beauty standards. They favour fair skin and think it is more beautiful. Even in India there are products to whiten one's skin and make it look more "lovely".

And in kpop, dark skin seems to be so ostracized. Idols get hate for looking tanner, they get whitewashed and are brainwashed into hating their skin colour when it isn't fair. Sometimes, idols even make jokes about dark skintones and there is this stigmatised hatred and discrimination against being of darker skintone.

So to all the dark-skinned POCs who have such a hard time appreciating kpop because as much as you love your idols and their music, you find it degrading to continue supporting them because of how dark skintones are so bashed;

Especially in kpop where African culture is often appropriated because it is "trendy" but Africans themselves are disrespected and mocked;

I just want all of you to know that your skintone is soso beautiful. And I just hope that none of you are whitening your skin because of nonsensical beauty standards and institutionalised hate against dark-skinned people. I hope that you know how vibrant and gorgeous you all are..and that you should be so proud of your skintone and its melanin and flaunt it everywhere because you are so boldly stunning.

Self-care advice ♡♡:

-Always keep yourself hydrated!! Drink lots of water to maintain that healthy complexion.
-It can be really hard for dark-skinned POCs to find makeup made for their skintone. So do your research on makeup that caters to your skintone and find affordable options and the nearest store to purchase them from!! -Eat tons of fruits and vegetables (or if you dislike vegetables like me you can stick to fruits lol).
-Constant affirmation. Your skintone is beautiful. It is packed with melanin which protects your skin from UV rays. Love your skin, treat your skin like a queen. Let your love for your skin colour overpower the prejudice against it in this world. You are so bold and beautiful. Never forget that.
