Winter in Canada could only be defined as butt bruises, skid marks, and ice burns. For a person as clumsy as I, it meant that this was accident-prone season and I probably wouldn't make it unscathed.

I had already had my butt chilled by a pack of frozen peas that morning. The day prior I had been out to buy groceries and fell on my ass when walking to my car. Case in point, I was already injured and embarrassed.

Still, the snow gods took absolutely no mercy on me on my walk to the coffee shop. I was already in the coffee shop parking lot, just a few steps away from temporary haven, when my foot decided to be a fool and step on ice. In two seconds, I had slipped and fell forward so that my face was buried in a mound of fresh, soft snow.

It was only when I raised my head from the freezing substance that I heard him, a young man leaning on a light post nearby, laughing his ass off. He had nearly cried from laughing.

I watched as he laughed so hard that he had to take a step back and slipped on even more deadly ice. He tipped forward and reached out for the lamp post, only for his face to collide with it.

The collision looked like it hurt and I was about to help him, until he got up himself. That's when I began laughing. He glared at me and continued to panic as his tongue burned from being stuck to the pole. After laughing and carefully walking to the coffee shop, I bought a hot chocolate and went back outside to see the man still standing there, his tongue still painfully stuck.

With no other words, I poured the hot chocolate on his tongue, watching it drip down the lamp post. He was free in seconds.

"Damn, that hurt."

"Looked like it, but that's karma right?"

The man smiled and nudged me, causing me to lose my balance. He had tried to catch me before I fell on the pavement, but only managed to fall with me.

"You're clumsy."

"You're a mess," I countered.

He turned towards me, not bothering to get up from the snow. "How about I buy you a hot chocolate and you can tell me how much of a mess I am?"

"I'd like that."

This was short and mostly comedic than romantic, but it's cute nonetheless

This was short and mostly comedic than romantic, but it's cute nonetheless. I personally relate because I'm basically an accident waiting to happen. Whoops.
