* Flashback *

Mother said she wanted to talk about something important...I wonder what that could be...

The little girl entered the house lost in thoughts and headed to her parents’ room. She was a little tired after training with her brother. Sasori has never taken her easy...Kallisto soon found herself in front of the door and knocked hesitating. She gathered all the courage and opened it when she heard her mother saying “Enter”.

The redhead entered slowly and sat on the bed near her mother, looking down and putting her hands on her knees shyly. Have I done something wrong?

“Kallisto,” the older woman began to speak softly, “As I told you before, there is something you need to know.” The young kunoichi looked at her mother, not knowing what to expect.

“You mustn’t tell anyone this...Whatever is said in this room must remain here...” the brunette stated but stopped as soon as she saw her daughter‘s look. She could say the little one was thinking hard about this.

“I promise I’ll never tell,” Kallisto said determined to respect her mother’s wish, but at the same time, still over thinking what it was about. The older one got up, locked the door, even though there wasn’t anyone in the house. She had to make sure no one interrupted them.

“This promise must be kept no matter what,” the woman caressed the redhead’s cheek and the last one nodded.”I have used my Appearance Technique on you...” said the older one and started do to some hand signs.

Kallisto stood there watching her mother with wide eyes. Appearance Technique? Since when does my mother have this technique? “S-since when do you have it, mom?”

Instead of answering the question, the older kunoichi pressed her hand carefully on the girl’s arm and said “Release.”

Saying so, Kallisto looked shocked at herself, like she didn’t know who she was. Her hair became longer and dark blue, instead red. I feel like I am in some stranger’s body...She wanted to go and see herself in the mirror but her mother stopped her, “This is how you look...”

She looked at her mother with disbelief.”H-How have you done it? I haven’t even noticed...”

The brunette didn’t let her daughter finish, “You are still a genin, remember?” Seeing the confusion on the girl’s face she decided it was time to place the technique again. “I will teach you this technique. You must keep it on whatever the price is...” her mother said with sorrow in her voice. She owed her daughter an explanation, but she didn’t know how to start and just said it, “You are Sasori’s half sister...”

Kallisto felt like the world was spinning around her. Was all my life just a lie? After a moment of silence she spoke, a little bit too loud for her mother likings.”What?! Have you cheated on dad? Why have you done it? Why haven’t you told me this earlier?” A bunch of questions was bothering her but she limited them to three.

“It was a mistake, sweetheart. We are human. We make mistakes...You are old enough to know. I won’t stop you if you want to look for your biological father, but you mustn’t forget that neither my husband nor Sasori need to know.

“Look for my father?! Does he even know that I exist?!” Tears were rolling down her cheeks and her hands began to shake. She has never looked so lost in her life... “Has he ever come to look for me?” She was disappointed...I would have known if he had looked for me...The redhead tried to wipe away her tears but there was no chance to win against them.

"He knows darling..." Her mother put a sad look on her face.

"So he didn't bother to come here and meet me, his own child?!” Kallisto almost yelled and soon after started to sob.

Her mother figured out that words wouldn’t make her daughter feel better, so she hugged her. The girl still had questions, but this one couldn’t wait, “W-Who...who is he?”

The brunette sensed the hatred in the girl’s voice and answered “Madara Uchiha.”

* End of flashback *

Appearance Technique, eh? She felt nostalgic. A few years have passed since she had found out the truth. Things changed: her parents died and she only had her brother. Sure granny Chiyo took care of them after the death of their parents but she could replace parental love. It still seems like it was yesterday...

Even though she was sad for a long time, studying the human body made her feel a little bit better. She wasn’t talented in using puppets and strings, but trained hard to become a medic ninja and be able to maintain the technique on. Sure she wasn’t at Sasori’s level, but she was happy just the way she was.

She was waiting for her brother on the top of the village gates, watching the sunset.“It's time to leave, Kallisto,” her brother appeared next to her.

“Are you letting ‘Mother’ and ‘Father’ behind?” She asked him slowly, not wanting to start crying. It was still hard for her.

“Yes,” he said stoically.”They are just puppets...We should get moving.”

“I’ll miss this landscape...Just give me a couple of minutes...We should come back here one day...”

“We will,” Sasori interrupted her, but she didn’t mind at all.

They stood there in silence, their hair blowing in the wind. Almost everything around them was orange. She would miss this village. Not the people, but the place. It was truly beautiful.

After a nod between them two, they jumped off the gates and headed towards the unknown, leaving the past behind.

Looks like adrenaline had already started to flow through my veins.
