CHARLOTTE

UGH that noise should be against the law. I reached my hand over and slammed it against my alarm clock, stopping the horrid noise. Oh my god, my head, I haven't been this hungover since college.  I rolled over, building up the urge to get out of bed.  I freeze when my head rolled into the pillow; it smelled like home.  Like him. I sat up, not caring how my head re-payed me. I thought back to last night. I remember drinking - a lot - then the knock on the door and then that's when things things start to get fuzzy. The last thing I remember is giving Asher a glass of wine while looking at pictures. Then nothing. "Mommy!" A wave of dark long hair flew around my running little bundle of joy. "Look! Look what was next to my bed!" She yelled as she jumped up and down next to my bed, she tossed the book on the bed and them attempted to get onto the bed. My bed is huge and very tall, I absolutely love it, though I constantly have a hard time getting in, I have to give it a little jump to get into it. I slide off the bed and onto the ground with a silent groan, my body is paying me back for the shitty way I treated it last night. I grabbed Rose and tossed her onto the bed, the giggle I received was worth the pain my body gave me.

"Hold on baby girl let momma go to the bathroom real quick." Walking into the bathroom I immediately went for the Advil, after taking two with handfuls of water from the sink, I went about brushing my teeth, washing my face and peeing. I already felt a little better, now all I needed was my hangover coffee. Whenever I am hangover I crave this sweet Starbucks treat that I learned about from a barista. Its a flat white with toffee nut and white mocha, talk about delicious! But my treat will have to wait because my angel needs me, push through the headache Char. "How did my baby girl sleep?" I asked while I climbed onto the bed.

"Good Mamma! But lookie at my book! Want to read it together?" My happy little girl asked.

"Sure sweetheart, but how about we go get a treat from Starbucks, and then come back and read, huh?"

"YA! I want a coco, pleaseeee!"

"You can have a coco baby girl, but you have to go get dressed first." Rose slid off the bed in a flurry of happiness and ran towards her room to change. I quickly threw on some leggings and a bulky sweater, winter was coming and so is cold. I went to the other side of the apartment wedding to aunties room it was empty; she was already at work. As I was heading to the kitchen to grab my wallet the doorbell rang not having any idea who it was I curiously walked towards the door, grabbing my phone off a table as I went. I looked through the peephole and friends. What is he doing here? And what does he have in his hands? I battled with the thought of walking away but my curiosity of knowing why he was here was larger. I opened the door and came face to face with the man I love and hate.

"Hi...?"

"Hi, um hello, sorry I thought I'd bring you girls breakfast. I know this is unannounced so if you want me to leave, I will..."

"No it's uh fine," I scratched the back of my head, "I am sorry about last night, I remember like nothing I am sure I probably made a fool of myself so for that I am sorry."

"You don't remember anything?" A look of sadness across crosses his face.

"No...Should I? Ohmygod, what did I do? What did we do?"

"Nothing! We did nothing don't worry! You gave me a glass of wine and then I left when you started to get tired. Nothing happened." Asher assured me, but deep down and I had a feeling he was holding back some information on me. I didn't push it because next thing I know a flurry of brown locks came rushing to the door, skidding to a stop next to me. A smile lit up her face as though the man that stood in front of her hung the moon. Who was I to deny her happiness? Once again, no matter how I felt about him I had to put my feelings aside, for Rose. She was the only person that mattered here.

"Why don't you come on in? It's cold and someone here is very excited to see you," I said with an unforced smile. Because no matter the pain that came along with him being here there was a fraction of joy. The joy of Rose's happiness.

And so Asher came in and it was almost... normal. It was as if we were a family on any other morning, just eating breakfast, enjoying each other's company and laughing. I would get in enraptured with watching Asher talk, his animation and love for the little person he was talking to was evident. Embarrassingly enough he caught me staring a multiple of times, he would send me a sly somewhat shy smile. Very shocking and unknown from the confident alpha male I know of. "Oh Char this is for you." No he didn't. He couldn't of possibly remembered. I brought the Starbucks cup to lips and sure enough it was. It was my 'hangover drink'. I looked back at him with shocked blue eyes which met his calculating and nervous filled brown ones. God it was just a cup of coffee, but this meant a lot to me that he remembered, oh god I need some air. I abruptly stood up and pushed my chair back, "excuse me guys I have to make a quick call." Grabbing my phone off the table I headed for the front door. Once I was outside and finding Nessa's contact the door opened to a pair of worried brown eyes.

"Charlotte I'm sorry. If I knew you would've been that upset about the coffee I wouldn't of gotten it for you. I thought I would've got you something that you would've liked I'm sorry I didn't mean to offend you or anything--"

"No oh gosh no you didn't offend me or anything, I just wasn't prepared for you to remember something so small about me, that's all," I said with a small hollow smile that didn't reach my eyes.

"I remember, and always will, remember everything about you. It's not possible for me to forget anything about." Are eyes connected and it was as though the air around us changed and our bodies became charged with an energy move closer to one another.

With a breathy and small voice, I said, "we should get back inside.... Rose can't be left alone..."

"She's watching cartoons with her teddy bear..." he said as is eyes stayed focused on my lips. His voice got deeper and his eyes came to half mass, almost a slave to the desire. I fell forward onto his chest, for my legs could no longer hold me up. I looked up into his eyes and I knew he was going to kiss me. And nothing else mattered in this moment. Not the cold, not the wrongness of what I was about to do, or the fact that my daughter could be wreaking havoc inside. All that mattered was his delicious lips on mine. When his lips finally touched mine I could not hold back the moan pleasure. My hands ran up his chest and into his hair, I pulled and tugged forcing him farther away but all pulling him closer. I could not only feel his desire but his...love?

There was the loud clearing of a throat from the bottom of the steps, we pulled away resting foreheads on one another, catching our breath, totally forgetting about the interruption until another clearing of the throat. I slowly turned my head and froze, it was as though someone threw a chilling bucket of ice cold water down my sweater. Three pairs of eyes stared back at me with shock and anger. Shock towards me and what I was doing. And anger towards the man that was still wrapped around me like a grapevine. Because there stood the three people that were next to throughout all the pain this man caused. Bexley, Effie and Nessa. Oh f#ck. What did I just do? Oh the absolute horror...
