CHARLOTTE

5 Years Later...

"Bye Charlotte! Have a nice day!" Yelled Nancy from the closing door of the ER. Smiling to myself I gave her a wave signaling that I heard her and headed towards my car. As soon as I started my car I headed towards my designated location, all the while singing along with the radio. After a twelve hour shift of running around I had to keep myself awake and alert. The default ring of someone calling overshadowed the music in the car, out of instinct I pressed the accept button on my steering wheel. "Hellllllloooooooo beautiful! It is me your wonderful friend calling to check in!" With a full a laugh I replied, "oh really? Checking in? Are you sure you don't want anything?" An exasperated noise sounded throughout the car, "Me?! Want something from my beautiful, kind friend? Oh no of course not!! Wait! Now that you mention it something does come to mind! So I have this posh and important dinner gala thingy that is in like three days! Now Owen agreed to come with me but he has this super important business meeting way out of state and won't be able to make it! So that is where you come in! Please come with me to this gala so I won't have to be alone! And having you as my hot arm candy will stir up some interesting conversations, for these things bore me to death! I swear I say I will never go to another but they just keep pulling me back! You know I bet you it's the alcohol that keeps pulling me back, something about it." This is Leo. My very gay friend who has looked after me for the past five years. And more importantly looked after my little angel, but we will get back to that one later. As I was saying, Leo is a businessman that does work for both big and small franchises, he works for an overall medium sized business, that does pretty darn well. And recently this business is going to be hosting a big gala dinner thing for the important employees, which includes Leo. Now Owen, who he mentioned earlier, is his partner. He is also in business and has a bigger part in this business than Leo. Now I'm not saying that they are famous or anything, they just have really good jobs that they work hard for. "Of course I will come with you Leo, I am just going to need to get everything arranged at home. Text me the details, I have got to go!" I said as I pulled up to the building.

Before I hung up he replied with, "thank you so much! We need to get you a really nice dress, important people are going to be coming!" After making sure the car was locked and I had everything important I headed towards the doors. "Hi Charlotte, she's in her usual place," said the daycare teacher who was grabbing a runaway toddler from the nap area.

"Of course she is, why am I not surprised," I said while I headed towards the 'library', by library I mean an area in the corner of the room that was surrounded by pillows and chairs. Sitting on the floor, crisscross applesauce is my little baby girl, in my eyes she is always going to be that. But whenever I say 'little,' in context of her, she responds with, "Mommy I'm not little, I am kid sized," which will also be served with a duh look. Melts my heart.

Rose Ash Williams. My little savior. The only one that pulled me out of everything burying me. The only reason I have been getting up in the morning for the past five years. I moved here, New York to Virginia(close to D.C.), after I left a drunk Asher on the bed. I got a job and was able to climb the ranks to an even better paying job at the hospital. I settled. I then had Rose. You may be wondering about her middle name, Ash. As you probably already know but its short for Asher. Before I had her I did everything capable to forget he ever existed, I tried to put it behind me. But when I had her I knew it would not be possible to ever forget him. She is him. She looks like him. She has the same mannerisms as him. Which kind of freaks me out because she has never met him. For goodness sakes she sleeps like him. She takes up the most room and makes sure she is on top of you. So when I had her I knew I would never fully be able to put him behind me, and he is her. He'll never meet her, so I only thought it was right to put another little piece of him on her, thus Ash. Personally I love it. That name reminds me of the good times. "Hey sweet pea!" I said as I snuck up and tickled her into a fit of giggles.
