"Already?!" was the first word that uttered from Ushijima Wakatoshi's new roommate's mouth. And it didn't particularly sound cheerful as a greeting either. The heavily-built male looked down upon Sawamura Daichi, who was not looking at Ushijima's face, but at the small, white, gold, and blue deer that was on Ushijima's left breast jacket. All Daichi could stare at was the little deer, and it slightly irked the taller male that he was focused on a simple picture instead of his new roommate.

But of course, Ushijima had met Daichi before... Just not personally. Ushijima respected Daichi quite a bit, actually... Just only in volleyball. He knew Daichi at least! But only by his shirt number and team?

"Karasuno," the olive-eyed student greeted Daichi. "Last year's crow leader," he recited to himself. "Dai...ki?" He struggled to come up with a name with great difficulty, though he didn't necessarily mean it in a rude manner.

Immediately, Daichi snapped out of his thoughts and tilted his head back to look up at the former Shiratorizawa captain. Daichi's troubled wrinkled features smoothened out into what seemed like a force smile (not that Ushijima really noticed or cared though). The former leader of the crows sent a smile up to Ushijima. "Ushijima Wakatoshi, huh? I'm Sawamura Daichi, your new roommate," Daichi introduced himself, dropping his suitcase on the floor and holding out a hand. "Let's please get along!"

Ushijima looked at Daichi's hand for a brief moment before realization hit him: Daichi Sawamura was his roommate. Daichi Sawamura would be staying with him for the entire school year. Daichi Sawamura hasn't personally met him. Daichi Sawamura needed to have a good first impression of him.

So the grand ace did the only thing he could do. He slammed the door shut and didn't let Daichi in. His gaze fluttered around the slightly cluttered room as he lost a bit of his cool. There was an average amount of clutter around the room -- a few books were scattered on a plain white desk with a white lamp and two keys. Boxes were stacked near his desk, and his old Shiratorizawa volleyball jacket hung loosely on his chair. His closet had a few hangers, but his clothes were hanging loosely and lopsidedly on the metal and plastic. Ushijima's bed was wrinkled from him sitting on it, and his running shoes, volleyball, and kneepads littered his half of his room.

On the other side of the door, Daichi gritted his teeth. "I heard that he was blunt, but I didn't realize how rude he was," he muttered to Sugawara. "I'm his roommate. I belong here whether he likes it or not!"

Sugawara only chuckled nervously. "Well, maybe he's getting you something. But if you want, you can hang out in my room," the former setter offered.

Daichi shook his head. "It's fine."

Back on the inside, Ushijima was frantically (though it would look normal to any other person) trying to clean up his "mess." Quickly, he tucked away his shoes under his bed, and then he straightened out his bedspread. He stacked his books neatly on his desk -- he had yet to put together his bookshelves, but he still wanted to stay neat. Quickly, Ushijima placed his kneepads on top of each other and placed them in his desk drawer.

He gave his room a once-over before nodding to himself. Clean enough. He grabbed a small key that resided on his desk and held it firmly in his hand before opening the door to allow Daichi to come in.

When Ushijima opened the door again, Daichi was tapping his foot, but the small smile was still forced on his face. "I hope we can get along!" Daichi said again, this time with a cock of the head and what seemed like a more sinister grin. But Ushijima simply ignored that and took Daichi's hand, causing Daichi to raise an eyebrow in confusion. "Uh... Ushijima?" He asked. "What're you doing?"

Without a word, Ushijima unspread Daichi's fingers with his palms up. Then he dropped the small silver room key into Daichi's hand. "Your key," he explained.

Daichi nodded his head, still trying to keep up with his grin. "Thanks!" Daichi tried to peer over Ushijima, who was still standing in the doorway. "So am I allowed in?"

"Right... Of course. I hope you don't mind my mess," Ushijima added the last part quickly as he turned to his side to make room for Daichi to come in.

"Thanks..." The former Karasuno captain picked up his suitcase and led Sugawara with his other belongings in. As soon as Sugawara dropped off Daichi's belongings, he left, leaving only the former Karasuno and Shiratorizawa captains alone in the room. With a low whistle, Daichi looked around the room, which was extremely... clean. Particularly Ushijima's side.

The room was fairly large -- a little bigger than the usual size for two people. There was one closet and two drawers, one of which Ushijima already claimed by the look of a few volleyball-related items on top of it. His closet only contained a few coats, which Daichi didn't mind. Other than the right side of the room, which had another bed, drawer, and desk, as well as the other half of the closet, Ushijima had already filled up his space with his belongings. Sawamura really needed to unpack, but he could still feel Ushijima's uncomfortable stare on him.

Gruffly, Daichi cleared his throat. "So, um... I'll start unpacking now," Daichi told Ushijima, pointing to his unopened boxes. "You don't mind if I borrow a boxcutter and make a mess, do you?" He chuckled awkwardly.

Ushijima just shook his head, turning to his desk and opening the top drawer. He rummaged around for a few moments before coming up with a boxcutter. He handed it over to Daichi, being careful not to cut him. "Do you need any help unpacking?"

With a short shrug and a chuckle, Daichi admitted, "A little bit, actually... It's not too bad though." The shorter student flicked up the box cutter blade and drew it along the taped edge of the box, then flicked the switch back down after he opened it. "Thanks," he added, dropping the sheathed box cutter on his bare bed. Out of the first box, there were mostly school supplies. Daichi laid the box on the carpeted floor. "Sorry for giving you work to do, Ushijima," he apologized. "But I figured we could get this faster and before dinner if you helped me."

Ushijima shook his head. "It's fine. I didn't have anything to do anyways," he replied. His olive eyes flickered to the academic box. "Do you need me to sort it out on your desk?" He offered.

"That would be helpful, thanks!" Daichi answered. He clasped his hand behind his neck and rubbed it to calm himself, guilt beginning to fill him. "If you could just stack the bocks on the table... I brought a bookshelf, and I'll build it later," Daichi explained as he picked up the box cutter again to open another box.

Ushijima only nodded and kneeled down to take out the books before he heard a felt and heard a buzz coming from his jacket pocket, followed by a series of small beeps and boops. Daichi looked over. "Phone call?" Ushijima shook his head.

"Text message."

The stoic boy drew out his phone, flipping it so he could view the message.

After Ushijima read the message out loud, Daichi knitted his eyebrows together, but Ushijima just shrugged. He looked over to Daichi. "Do you want to go, Sawamura?"

"You have Oikawa's number?" Daichi asked, a little surprised. Ushijima didn't seem like the type of guy to hang out with social butterfly-Oikawa.

Ushijima just shrugged. "Why not?" He placed his thumbs over the keyboard again. "Do you want to go out for dinner with us?" He asked again.

"I guess -- it's not like I really know which places are great for eating or what to do after I unpack," Daichi said. "Sure."

"Alright." Ushijima quickly typed in a simple reply, only to immediately get an answer from Oikawa again.

His reply made Ushijima create an irk mark. When was Oikawa going to stop calling Ushijima "Ushiwaka-chan?"
