Ariella left Cassie's house very early that morning. She didn't bother telling Matti that she's about to leave. She was too scared. She might not leave the country if ever she bids him goodbye.
In the taxi, she stares at the falling raindrops on the window while listening to the music playing on the radio. She has never felt so emotional. So many emotions swirled through her eyes and tickled her heart by Christina Perri's song, A Thousand Years. Every line of the song made her miss Matti even more.
I have died every day waiting for you . . .
How long had she been waiting for the day to see Matti again? To hear his voice, to touch him again . . . the need of being locked to his warm embrace and showered with kisses—does she have to wait for the right time again, to be finally and forever be with him?
. . . And she thought all along, it was already the right time. Maybe, it was only a chance, a chance just to see him again.
All along I believed I will find you . . .
Time has brought your heart to me,
I have loved you for a thousand years . . .
She did found him. She searched for him, and luckily enough, somewhat brought him to her; a dog named Rose that was named after her.
One step closer . . .
As they would say; "so close, yet so far." Ariella thought that their encounter might be telling them something, something that they should invest on about. Should Matti pop the question and marry her? Should Ariella stay with him; in Australia?
What was the lesson? And what would she do now? Cry and go back to work?
She hoped that even by chance, Matti would still be able to meet her at the airport . . . just before she leaves.
--
In the meantime, Matti arrived at Cassie's house and the rain has drizzled to a halt. He expected Ariella to be still there so that he could be the one sending her off to the airport. Unfortunately for him, she has already left less than an hour ago.
"You still have time! Come on, go!" she said while shooing him off.
"You sure?" he sounds unconvinced.
"Oh my goodness, what are you waiting for? Don't you wanna marry my cousin? Drive quick. Her plane's leaving at 8!" Cassie exasperated.
He did follow Cassie's instruction. He checked his wristwatch—seven fifteen. He doesn't have much time left if ever he wants to pop the million dollar question soon.
He is ready. He always was. He had the ring ready with him so that anytime he had the chance, he will ask her. The thing is, he was caught off with the moments spent with her that he didn't even get to ask her. This might be the last chance; he needs to be there before she leaves.
