I awaited anxiously on the couch, waiting for the news and for Seth to call. It had been 2 hours since the jet took him. I knew it wouldn't be much longer. Another two passed, and the phone rang. I jumped and ran to it.
"Hello?"
"Ed, it's Seth. I'm at the airport. I'm waiting for a cab to take me to the hospital. Has the news said anything about her?"
"No," I said glumly. "But I'm glad you made it safe. Let me know how she is as soon as you get there."
"I will. Stay strong, Eddie." And with that he hung up. More anxious minutes ticked by. 45 minutes passed, and I felt like dying.
Finally, the phone rang again. I picked it up as fast as possible.
"Ed," he sounded like he'd been crying. My heart stopped. "Ed, she's okay. She's awake. I just went in and saw her."
I gasped a sigh of relief.
Seth chuckled. "Yeah, same here. And you know what was one of the first things she asked?"
"What?"
" 'Where's Eddie?' "
I laughed like a lunatic because of my stress and exhaustion. "Tell her I'm coming soon. Hey, is she okay with you being here?"
"Yes, she's uh, she's actually glad I'm here." Seth said, and I could hear his smile through the phone.
"Good. Tell her I love her and I'll be there tomorrow."
"But, the show-"
"Tomorrow's show is an iffy. The owners of the place are being difficult."
"Well, alright. See ya, tomorrow."
"Bye." I hung up and literally jumped for joy. Thank god the guys were in the dressing rooms. I sprinted out of the tour bus and all the way to the guys. I told them the news and they were happy too. We played the show, and it was the first show I didn't have to fake being happy. For the last song, I grabbed the mic and said, "Hey guys. I just want to address something. I'm not sure if you know, but Mary Randall was found the other night, clinging to life. Well, I got news from her brother from the hospital, and my girlfriend Mary is okay now!" The crowd cheered loudly. "So, in honor of her, I'm going to ask the guys to join me in a song she really loves."
We started to play "Get Back" by The Beatles. It was truly awesome. I knew that she would be happy to hear about it, and I couldn't wait to go see her.
