~Anya P.O.V~
Yinlel looked over and ducked out of the way at the last second. He was not fast enough and the hammer hit his shoulder with a loud crack of the bone. I cried out in fear at the sound. Yinlel screamed and fell to the ground. Joey loomed over him holding the hammer high. I screamed again but this time Yinlel was already looking at Joey. He quickly moved out of the way despite his bloody, bruised, and broken shoulder. Joey smashed the hammer against the ground. I could see Yinlel looking around the room. His eyes landed on one of the chairs. The chair began to float across the room and it slammed against Joey's head knocking him to the ground. Yinlel then got up and ran to me and began to untie the rope. "Yinlel your shoulder..." I began. He quickly cut me off, "It is fine. Do not worry, I am going to get us out of here as close to one piece as possible." He promised. He got the ropes off and tried to sit me up but stopped when I sucked in air and tried not to scream from the pain in my ribs.
He turned around to see Joey getting back up. He went over to him and kicked him back down knocking him out. Then he opened the door on the floor and threw Joey in after a hard struggle with his shoulder. He shut the door and blocked it off with part of the chair. He broke off another part of the chair a long straight bar of wood. He walked back over to me and pulled some of the rope to him. He put the bar against my leg. I winced painfully but let him continue. He tied the bar to my leg with the rope so it was supporting my injured leg. Next he brushed my messy and matted hair out of my face and laid his hand on my cheek. "Sorry I did not come sooner" he whispered to me. Before I could protest he picked me up as carefully as he could manage with a broken shoulder. I sucked in a breath as my broken ribs wined in protest. He began to leave the room. The hall looked clear so we went upstairs. He left the house and ran about a mile then set me down. "I need to go get Yelix. Stay here, and if ANYTHING and I mean ANYTHING happens just call for me. I WILL be there." He said as he left.
It tried to sit up to assess the damage on my body but I only got dizzy and fell back down. It was hard to believe I was actually safe now. Yinlel had saved me. I hoped he would get out safely with Yelix. I did not want either of them hurt. I began to drift off to sleep. I was not at all tired but for some reason I could not keep my eyes open.
When I woke up I was laying beneath a tree. Yinlel was sitting next to me holding Yelix. Yelix looked unharmed and well fed. That made me smile, until I saw Yinlel's shoulder. It had stopped bleeding but look completely mangled and out of shape. I tried sitting up but screamed and fell back down. Yinlel instantly looked at me in concern. He set Yelix down and scooted closer to me. "Do not try sitting up. I think you have some broken ribs. You have a fever as well, probably from not eating of drinking anything in days. Your leg is also probably infected." He carefully lifted the bottom of my shirt so he could only see my sides where I had been kicked at. They were purple and bruised badly. He sighed and pulled my shirt down. "I need to go get some supplies with what little money we have left." He said as he left. I did not want him to leave but I knew he had to. He took Yelix with him because I was in no condition to watch him or protect him.
I must have fallen asleep again because next thing I knew I was standing in the valley again. "This is not the valley, little one." Makara's voice said to me. I looked around and tried to find her. "Then where is it? How do we get there?" I asked her. Suddenly the crack in the ground began to glow brightly again. "It can only be found be members of the tribe." I heard the memory of Molly's voice. "Only magic blood can find THEM to save THEM" Markar's voice said to me. "But do I have magic blood? Can I find them? Is it possible?" I asked. "I can already see great Magic swelling inside of you I can see the way the plants bend as you walk by , the way the stream ripples into small waves as you look at it, and the way the clouds spread to let the sun have his look at you. You have magic indeed Anya it just needs some time and a little hope." I heard a memory of Markar's voice. Could I really have magic? The thought seemed upsurd, like another one of my childish fantasies, but I still had hope.
I woke up just as Yinlel was returning with Yelix. He had some bags with him. He knelt down next to me and set Yelix down. "You are burning up!" He exclaimed when he put his hand on my forehead. He began to dig thought the bag until he found some strange liquid in a white bottle. He poured it out onto a small white cloth. He went to my leg and pulled off the dirty and bloody bandages. From what I could see on my leg it was in fact infected. The spot where the bullet had gone in hurt the most. He ran the cloth over it. It stung but the pressure hurt more. I let out a short scream. He shushed me and pulled the cloth away. He looked at the wound for a moment and then closed his eyes. Suddenly the bullet came tearing out of the skin. I screamed. He held my hand and continued to move it out of the wound with his mind. He let it drop to the ground when it was out then went back to cleaning the wound. When he was donw cleaning it he put on a new bandage then pulled out a box. "The man who was there said this should help support your leg. It was expensive but it should help." He said as he pulled out a brace of some sort from the box. He put it around my leg as gently as he could manage. Next he began to clean up all the little cuts and scrapes I had. From there he moved on to wrapping a bandage around my chest where my ribs were. Finally he put a strange sticky bandage over a deep cut on my head. He pulled me into a semi sitting semi lying position on his lap and put a bottle of water to my lips. I drank it thirstily until he pulled it away. It was silly, I felt like a child who needed everything done for them, but whenever I tried to do it on my own I only got pain as a response. "here is a granola bar. Eat this now and if you can keep it down I will give you some fruit I bought." He commanded gently. I ate the bar then laid my head in his lap. He held Yelix in one arm and stroked my hair with the other. He began to sing an old tribe song to me as I drifted off to sleep,
"The ground that glows when you stand near,
To many give up with fear.
The rocks that never move
Can only be found, can only be found
In the valley of moon.
In the valley of moon.
The flowers sing
It is such a beautiful thing.
The valley of the moon
The valley of the moon
Only one can let it be seen.
Only one can find everything
Only one can find the underground valley
The valley of the moon
The valley of the moon"
I began to drift to sleep at the familiarity of the meaningless children's song."I love you," I mumbled sleepily to Yinlel. I could hear him chuckle a bit and could picture his warm smile. "I love you to, Anya," He replied. Then I fell into my first blissful dreamless rest in days.
